MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. - The images coming out of Guatemala are heartbreaking and Michael Capponi saw the need right away.

"It’s unbelievable. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that," Capponi said.

As founder and director of the Global Empowerment Mission, he’s responded to natural disasters before from the 2010 devastating earthquake in Haiti, to last year’s monster Hurricanes that ravaged the U.S. and the Caribbean.
..................................................

Guatemala's Fuego volcano erupted Sunday, causing a fast-moving avalanche of superheated muck that roared into the tightly knit villages on the mountain’s flanks, devastating entire families. Photos from the area show huge clouds of ash looming over roads and towns.

.........................................

And just as South Florida responded with donations that filled warehouses with relief supplies after last year’s hurricanes, they’re counting on this community to help the thousands In desperate need in Guatemala right now.

.......................Global Empowerment mission is a nonprofit charity. They take no overhead. All donations will go to the people on the ground who need it. If you want to help visit www.globalempowermentmission.org .......................

Kilauea's volcanic eruption, left, and Guatemala's Fuego eruption

(CNN) - Both eruptions swallowed homes and reminded everyone how ferocious nature can be.

But there are huge differences between Guatemala's Fuego volcano eruption, which has killed 62 people since Sunday, and Hawaii's recent Kilauea eruption, which hasn't killed anyone but keeps slowly wreaking havoc one month later.

Kilauea's primary mode of destruction is lava, but Fuego has unleashed pyroclastic flow -- a nasty mix of ash, rock and volcanic gases that can be much more dangerous than lava.

In Guatemala, pyroclastic flow from Sunday's eruption topped 1,800 degrees Fahrenheit (about 1,000 degrees Celsius), CNN meteorologist Ivan Cabrera said.

"This eruption at Fuego was explosive, sending hot debris down the steep sides of the volcano to make the pyroclastic flows," said Erik W. Klemetti, associate professor of geosciences at Denison University.

He said pyroclastic flows can tumble down a volcano at hundreds of kilometers per hour -- way faster than what people and even cars could outrun. .................................................

But it is Guatemala, wherever that is, so it won't get the same coverage as, say, the death of an American purse designer.

Unfortunately you are correct. And people wonder why more Americans aren't upset over Russia and treason which is our own country and our lives. Many, many Americans have become apathetic and self centered asses since the 70s.
