Judge in Brock Turner sentencing recalled
Source: The Hill
The California judge who made national headlines for sentencing a college athlete to six months in jail for the sexual assault of an unconscious woman was recalled Tuesday.
Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky was on the path to being removed from office with four years remaining in his term, according to unofficial results from the recall vote. He would be the first California judge to be recalled in more than 85 years.
The unofficial results show nearly 59 percent of voters in favor of a recall, with 39 percent of precincts reporting.
Persky sentenced then 19-year-old Brock Turner to six months in jail and three years of probation for his sexual assault conviction in 2016. Turner faced up to 14 years in prison for the crime.

(26,299 posts)10 years of probation and not the six months in prison and only a few years of probation.
Had this judge done that he might still be in office not that I think he cares probably as he will probably still get retirement benefits Assuming he's entitled to any.

(32,886 posts)Who are these folks in the Probation department who made this recommendation? They should all be fired or reassigned. Regardless of that though, the judge should not have followed their recommendation.
