In private FEMA remarks, Trump's focus strays from hurricanes

Source: Washington Post

The meeting was supposed to be about hurricane preparedness, as disaster officials gathered at Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters days after the start of the 2018 season.

But President Trump had a lot else on his mind, turning the closed-door discussion into soliloquies on his prowess in negotiating airplane deals, his popularity, the effectiveness of his political endorsements, the Republican Party’s fortunes, the vagaries of Defense Department purchasing guidelines, his dislike of magnetized launch equipment on aircraft carriers, his unending love of coal and his breezy optimism about his planned Singapore summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

“It’s an interesting journey. It’s called the land of the unknown — who knows? We’ll maybe make a deal. Maybe not. As I say to everybody, are you going to make a deal?” Trump said, according to audio of the FEMA meeting obtained by The Washington Post. “Maybe and maybe not. Who knows?”

The president’s 40-minute briefing session behind closed-doors came after he spoke to cameras for about 15 minutes. He briefly referred to Puerto Rico — where authorities now say thousands died as a result of last year’s hurricane. The Trump administration was roundly criticized for its performance, and hundreds of thousands in the U.S. territory remain without electricity.

This is an actual news story.

"Interesting journey" "land of the unknown" "Who knows? We'll maybe make a deal. Maybe not. As I say to everybody, are going to make a deal?'

"Maybe and maybe not, who knows?"

Note that the Washington Post has an actual audio of this idiocy.

That's how bad the leaks are, they are secretly taping and passing the audio to the WP.

Think about how worried they are that they would tape their boss so the whole world can see what an idiot he is.

Gimme a fuckin break...I have played with several guitarists that blow that psycho shitbag away on guitar.

And his songwriting sucks even more.

Sorry, but fuck Ted Nugent and everything about him.

Musical tastes vary of course; mine were formed long before I knew Nugent was an a-hole.

8. Does Trump do this on purpose, because he actively thinks "everything must be about me"

or is he so oblivious to what his job should actually be that he just starts talking without realising he is wasting the time of people with important jobs who should be working out how to save lives better in the future?

It's the old "evil or stupid?" conundrum. With things like his attitude to Canada, and the G7 summit, over the past few days, I tend towards "evil" - he actually wants to waste FEMA's time, because they're a government agency, therefore he hates them - but there's the possibility he's too narcissistic to have needed to think it through that much - he just naturally turns any meeting with him to shit without making a conscious effort to do so.

rump's remarks after the hurricane cleanup in Puerto Rico) could lead to murder charges of the 5,000 or so citizens against rump and his cronies. I remember the hurricane cleanups after Katrina (pathetic and caused an outcry against Bush) and Sandy (east coast) and Obama's efforts there were lauded by none other than New Jersey's former governor, Christi.

Because this is exactly what happened, being that the infrastructure on P. Rico was damaged severely and the feds pretty well abandoned relief efforts after a while (and after rump's remarks)...

Following his self centered remarks in this OP, "President ignorant ass wipe", I hope that multiple hurricanes damages all of rump's properties exclusively while leaving the rest of the surrounding area alone, and that since only 1 private property was damaged (rump's), no fed. aid is eligible.

Having watched so many of our loved ones suffer with dementia, my mom and I called it back before Trump even had the nomination.

It's unmistakable. The man is in the throes of dementia. The blank facial expressions, the rambling speech, childish vocabulary, sudden rage, etc. It's all there.

(i'm a WWII geek)

but there are many similarities between the orange asshole and hitler.

and one of them is just this: hitler would go on these jags about any and all topic except the actual one that needed to be discussed.

these jags would increase in length and randomness as the war started going very badly for him.

The book I'm reading was originally written in the early '70's and doesn't really go into the war itself per say, but more of the man himself.

and it paints a portrait of a person who certainly had massive megalomania tendencies, an misplaced and grandiose ego.

I think he also suffered from sort of major mental disorder. from my arm chair quarter back opinion, either some form of depression or bi-polar or borderline issue.

he would break out in to these rages then in the next moment, be perfectly sedate.

but prior to that, in his pre-wwI days, he showed some major signs of some sort of personality disorder. Major mood swings and fits of rage.
