Bernie Sanders won't endorse son's congressional run
Source: Axios
Bernie Sanders will not endorse his son, Levi, in his New Hampshire congressional race, stating that his family "[does] not believe in dynastic politics." The Vermont senator stated that Levi is "running his own campaign in his own way, "adding that he is "very proud" of his son's accomplishments.
Yes, but: There are rumblings in New Hampshire that Levi's campaign is widely seen as inept and likely to lose, per The Boston Globe. As a result, New Hampshire politics aficionados believe Bernie may not want to harm his brand before the 2020 presidential campaign by throwing his full weight behind his son.

(59,504 posts)Miro Weinberger was by far the stronger candidate and he won easily. By all accounts, she ran a better campaign than Levi Sanders is doing. She lost because Weinberger has been a good mayor and it was not clear at all that she could do better than he could going forward.

Bernie Sanders wont endorse his son for Congress, citing dynasty politics

Levi Sanders doesnt live in the district hes running to represent, and while thats not required, it doesnt help his cause. He resides in Claremont, in New Hampshires Second
District, which is about an hour away. Whereas his father excelled in fundraising, Levi has struggled, ending March with just under $11,500 on the books. Hes picked up two endorsements from New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and California Rep. Ro Khanna but not his dads.
Voxs Dylan Matthews, who has a full explainer on Levi Sanders, pointed out that some of the candidates past social media activity also raises some questions. On Twitter, he has criticized identity politics and said criticisms of white privilege turn off working-class voters. He tweeted he didnt think working-class families would care about President Donald Trump using a racial slur and complained that eliminating Confederate flag license plates hurts peoples rights.

(35,454 posts)whether his son won or lost, it's all about BS.
That said, I don't know who raised him but God he's awful, probably full of seething resentment.

(297,323 posts)according to BS, that is.. and he would be stuck with that.. whether he "believes in it" or not. He painted himself into a corner.
Same with Levi now.. must be a wee bit difficult for an aspiring politician to be stymied by a father in the Senate who doesn't want to be saddled with the "political dynasty" label he's posited.
