Source: CNN

New York (CNN)Anthony Bourdain, a gifted storyteller and writer who took CNN viewers around the world, has died. He was 61.

CNN confirmed Bourdain's death on Friday and said the cause of death was suicide.
"It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain," the network said in a statement Friday morning. "His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."

Bourdain was in France working on an upcoming episode of his award-winning CNN series. His close friend Eric Ripert, the French chef, found Bourdain unresponsive in his hotel room Friday morning.

I was hopeful then that eventually the day would come that Iran would join the rest of the world in peace and Americans could travel there on tours of the country and have it seem no more dangerous than a trip to an European country. If that ever happened I'd go there.

Of course now with that orange fuck in office fat chance of that happening anytime soon.

'Asia Argento spent the weekend in Rome with reporter Hugo Clement, with the two seen smiling as they walked through the streets of Rome
The pair were seen affectionately embracing just and laughing with a group of friends just a few weeks after attending the Cannes Film Festival
Argento is also enjoying professional success, having been named as a new judge on the Italian version of X Factor and directing the recent Parts Unknown
She was selected for that gig by her boyfriend of close to two years, Anthony Bourdain, who raved about the actress in a blog post last week.'

I was thinking about her (and his daughter too, of course.)

This one will be particularly hard for many, imo; surprised about it's effect on me already.

Fri Jun 8, 2018, 08:29 AM

It helps one not become depressed to the point of feeling life is not worth living. sickness and pain is a different matter, that may lead some to stop the suffering.

But, it is a good thing for people to truly invest in knowing themselves, without placing overly demanding expectations upon themselves. It takes work, because even for many "not" in the public's radar of popularity, it is a challenge, and in the media it likely is an even bigger challenge beause of the nature of the business and its pressures.

One should never take their success so serious as to, fear its loss, or to feel pressured to always do so much more.

It's unknown at this point what his real life challenges were. But, we can all learn from Kate Spade and now Anthony Bourdain, that popularity, money and such things that are measured as success, is not and will not be the basis of one loving themselves and being at ease of some level of contentment with their lives.

The things we place values upon, are "fleeting"... what remains within us, is our "spirit of self", to appreciate the simple and not make measure about so many things... might help many relieve the pressures in their lives.

There is nothing that can be achieved that guarantees "contentment within spirit of self"... its something that we must work at on a daily basis.

I read his books and used to watch his shows. He had been through some battles with addiction, but projected a sense of well being and a real zest for learning and life. I haven't read a any statements from his friend Eric Ripert.

On edit, I just read that it was Eric who found him unresponsive in his hotel room.
