DONALD TRUMP IS DOING PUTIN'S WORK IN RUINING U.S. ALLIANCES, SAYS EX-ENVOY TO MOSCOW
Source: Newsweek
President Donald Trump is outdoing the Kremlin in spoiling U.S. alliances around the world, a former envoy to Moscow has said ahead of a global summit with disgruntled foreign leaders.
Trump is set to attend the first G7 summit since his administration controversially imposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico and Washingtons closest allies in Europe, despite protest from the leaders of all involved and against the advice of U.S. senators from both parties. The move was one of the clearest signs yet that the Trump administration does not stand by commitments to U.S. partners made by generations of previous presidents.
One person who will be gleefully watching the deepening of a self-inflicted schism between the U.S. and its friends overseas is a man who is no longer invited to these summitsRussian President Vladimir Putin, according to Washingtons ex-envoy to Moscow, Michael McFaul.
Putin has to do nothing to undermine the alliances and international institutions that helped to advance American security and prosperity for the last several decades, McFaul wrote on Twitter. Trump is doing all the work for him.

(988 posts)Meanwhile back at home.. democrats are
- trying to figure out what bathroom people will use
- making sure cake vendors make cakes for all people equally
- etc,etc
Can we get some democrats that have some balls to do something and say something.
Everyday its the GOP narrative... nothing from democrats.

(19,201 posts)There are Democrats who are speaking up, and on a regular basis, but "do something"? What can they possibly do with Republicans in total control of our government and justice system?

(988 posts)I see Tom's message coming through loud and clear. I also see GOP narratives coming through on TV.
I DO NOT see anything from the democrats. It pisses me off. I spend alot of money donating to various democrats / organizations and I dont see the message getting out.
Im not the only one. Its talked about all the time. The democrats dont have a message. What do they stand for?
We need to get Perez off his butt and making a difference.

(19,201 posts)that they could do more in getting a message, any message, out to all voters, like an entire company of Adam Schiffs hounding everyone. But that is still encompassed in the "say something" category. Which brings us back to the "do something" category. With the GOP in control of everything there is precious little that can be done to stop - or even slow down - Trump's destruction of our government and our country. Trump's obsession with degrading the Mueller investigation has slowed him down some, but he still has enough time to destabilize everything he touches.
That's the point I was trying to make. There was certainly no intent to incite an argument.
