Dynasty Warriors: Golden State proves unstoppable in title run
Source: espn com
CLEVELAND -- Before the Hamptons, before light-years ahead, and before Jurassic basketball thinkers had to concede that a small team could actually win an NBA championship with jump-shooting, finesse and defense, nobody spoke of the Golden State Warriors as a squad with multiple Hall of Famers, let alone one.
The Warriors are celebrating their third title on Friday night after beating the Cavaliers 108-85, with a signature third-quarter run that buried their beleaguered opponent. For the Warriors dynasty -- and it's now a dynasty -- the sweep is yet another achievement. But it's easy to forget that, four years ago, they were a team that couldn't survive a first-round series against the LA Clippers.

Wanted Steph to get MVP though ... don't begrudge KD but just thought Curry was slightly more deserving.

(12,155 posts)The Warriors have not only a ridiculous amount of talent, but a determination and inner strength that is something to see.
Their versatility is also very hard to defend against. If the guards aren't hitting 3's, they're pounding the paint. If one of the bigs is in foul trouble, somebody comes off the bench and lights it up.
Several times in tonight's game, the Warriors had the Cavs spread thin trying to defend the perimeter, or double-teaming Curry, and then zipped a pass to a wide-open guy for an easy layup. Other times, there would be a skirmish for the ball, and then a seeing-eye pass to the corner where somebody would drain a 3. Or Durant (or Thompson or Curry) would just stop 4 feet outside the 3-point arc, pop up, and loft in a ridiculous jumper. And their defense was very strong, too. Scary team to play against. Hats off to Golden State.

(823 posts)...in history. Rockets had them 3 to 2 until CP3 went down. James will be coming to Houston, bank it. Let's see who will be partying then.

You choose one series and call them lucky
They have been the most dominant force in basketball over the last 4 seasons
Great teams make their own luck and take advantage of opportunities
The Rockets were up 3-2 and wilted
If they cannot survive without one player, they're not a great team
As to James in Houston. Go ahead. He can lose to Golden State in the conference finals and begin his vacation that much earlier
