Trump calls CNN 'fake news' after reporter asks him question at G-7
Source: The Hill
President Trump slammed CNN as fake news after a reporter with the news organization asked him a question during a press briefing at the Group of Seven (G-7) summit.
After the reporter asked Trump a question about tensions between him and other leaders at the G-7 summit, the president asked what network he was from.
Who are you with out of curiosity? Trump asked the reporter, who replied that he was from CNN.
I figured, Trump said. Fake News CNN. The worst."
Trump then began to say that he could tell by the question, before clarifying that he did not previously know the reporters affiliation.

(36,464 posts)Nobody's stopping him. The GOP congress has abdicated their responsibility of keeping a runaway executive in check. The dems have been neutered. The Mueller/Daniels/Zervos cases are being worked in the background, but everyday this fucker is in office he does more damage. He thrives on the chaos he creates.

(1,216 posts)Have you by any chance seen some of his interviews on TV from long ago? And you are exactly right, he is getting bolder
by the week. Unless Mueller publishes some serious charges the GOP congress is not going to impeach.

I know a LOT of Is, and Ds for that matter, who like him just fine.
He has crossed that rubican, where there is almost literally nothing he can say or do that that these people will peel off on him, everyone I talk to, read a Facebook post or hear them talk about it, they think he is a victim ...

(36,464 posts)The dems want to take your hard earned money & give it to the lazy minorities, pay for abortions for uppity women, & give gay people the right to marry. That Jones/Moore race shouldn't have even been close. Trump ran one of the most vile, hateful campaigns & was within such close margins that the election could be swayed. That's how perverted GOP values are.

One of these days a reporter is gonna give the right answer when Trump shouts "Fake News."
Somebody with brass balls will answer "Fake President!"

(3,191 posts)Unfortunately, the reporter who did such a thing would be barred from the news pool by Trump's handlers, or the reporter's news agency would be banned entirely so someone else couldn't take his/her place. That's just the kind of trick Trump would pull if a reporter annoyed him enough.
What the entire press should do is ignore him. If they absolutely must discuss him, avoid using his name. Refer to him obliquely. He'd blow a gasket if they did something like that because it's all about him, in his mind. If they delegitimize him into being a non-entity, he'd lose his shit in moments.

(12,586 posts)If Trump called me out as being "fake news," my reflex response would be, "Fake news, fake president."
There was another time when Donnie Two Scoops told a reporter, "I know what you're thinking." This was the free-for-all in front of the Trump Hotel when IQ45 said there were good people "on both sides" in Charlottesville. My knee-jerk response would have been, "No, you don't know what I'm thinking!"
I guess if my livelihood depended on taking whatever the asshole-in-chief handed out, I'd stand there and take it. Whatever I think about Katy Turr's interviewing skills, she hung in there during the MAGA rallies when Trump would call her out by name from the podium (she said in an interview on the Daily Show that there were times it was scary). She was brave enough not to leave the press pool, although I believe there was one time she had to be escorted to her car after Trump riled up the crowd against her.
I'm old enough to remember the following exchange between Nixon and Dan Rather, which occurred in the middle of the Watergate scandal (notice the boos when Rather introduced himself):
As corrupt as he was, Nixon didn't stop holding press conferences, unlike our current coward-in-chief, who hasn't held one in more than 500 days. I was in journalism school when the Nixon-Rather exchange happened, and as far as we were concerned, Dan was our hero.
After nearly 50 years Rather is still a force to be reckoned with.
