It actually sounds like you were born out of a f**king hermit crab ... Its a gross language, she says in video footage.

Recent footage of a womans interaction with a nail technician has sparked fury across the internet.
Facebook user Robin L. Roether uploaded the clips after her friend, who was at a salon in Lutz, Florida, filmed an unidentified fellow customer insulting a salon employee.
In the footage, the two appear to be having a dispute over payment as the customer starts to personally attack the nail technician, who is Asian, for her English skills.
If they dont understand the language, they should go back to their own country, the woman can be heard saying in one video, later telling the employee, If you cant explain something youre charging for, then yeah, theres a problem.

(4,742 posts)There's the Trumpmerica for ya. Instead of working to solve the problem, which I'm guessing could be easily resolved, this Nazi goes into full assault mode. Fuck her.
That lady looks like your typical redneck Floridian entitled POS. By the way...you go to a nail salon called Bali. WTF do you expect? Gee Asian people with an Asian accent. We need to start publicly caning people for this type of behavior.

(9,894 posts)It's a time honored tradition. I worked retail back in the '80's as a salesperson and a manager. The stuff people say to customer facing workers, especially females, is jaw dropping.

(2,577 posts)I am so very tired of racist white folk and their BS about learning English, especially since so many of their monolingual selves haven't mastered English either. Just check out the spellings of many of the posts and tweets by the righteous on the right.
People in the US should be learning other languages and seeing how much work it is. Then they should admire all of those who are multi-lingual. It's not easy.

(6 posts)Well the anti-migrant attitude has been turned up to 11; and they love Trump because it's cool to be unapologetic now and that's what Americans like.
I wish people would be nicer to each other--altho I have to admit that foreign languages can sound harsh to English speakers; but that's not a fault of the language nor the speaker of the language.

(11,949 posts)They see it as a kind of simple, almost creole of a language with very simple grammar system and no genders assigned to words and no formal and informal case. And a huge, always expanding vocabulary which might be challenging but makes it so useful. But once you learn the words putting them into a sentence is pretty simple.
I know from studying French it is much more complicated.
I too have heard for years how challenging English is to learn. I think that is a result of English chauvinism with it users refusing to admit that it is a language of traders and pirates. And a language that was pretty much codified by one man, Shakespeare. Before him there were very few agreed upon rules of the language.
What is difficult is learning another language as an adult. I have been studying French for six years, travel there almost yearly, and I am not even close to being fluent.
But that is an aside to this thread about racist behavior exhibited here.

(6,855 posts)Requires declensions similar to Latin and male/female matching. However, the spelling is ridiculous in English. And the use of apostrophe is insane. Its and theirs for possessive but all else require apostrophes for possessive case? Not to mention though, tough, tow, toe. Throughout the world there are people who dont know what a spelling bee is. In other languages, words are spelled as they sound.

(11,949 posts)But how to structure them correctly.
Actually my biggest challenge is being over 50!
Many languages are spelled as they would. French is not one of them. They drop so many sounds it is crazy.
Have a nice day.

(30,745 posts)about five years. It has been fun watching the nail techs improve their English and cultural skills. A couple of the women have become citizens during the time I have been going there. This is their country now.
I enjoy hearing them converse in Vietnamese. I like seeing some of the pictures and decorations that celebrate their culture.
The last time I went there, my husband did errands and then we went out for Mexican food. I could have come home and cooked something German, but it was it was nice to eat out.
I have cousins who are bilingual in German and English. I am not, because my dad married a Swede.
Who are we anyway? Whose country is it? Are there any Native Americans here on DU today?
I know these things have always gone on, but 45 seems to be giving the bigots permission. And now it is easier to expose them on social media.

I guess if someones going to go for racist in public, might as well go all the way and expose yourself as a cretin of every sort.

(6,855 posts)The manager probably did not want to physically challenge this drunk woman. Noticed a young girl with her mother. I guess she got an earful of a grownup behaving badly.

(6,122 posts)She immigrated from Canada when she was 16. She always had a U.S. flag hanging from her front door and never missed voting; not once. The thing is, she understood English but couldn't speak it, the same way I understand French but can't speak it. I admire people who can speak two languages; they never cease to amaze me.
