Exclusive: Trump looking to erect tent cities to house unaccompanied children

Source: McClatchy

WASHINGTON

The Trump administration is looking to build tent cities at military posts around Texas to shelter the increasing number of unaccompanied migrant children being held in detention.

The Department of Health and Human Services will visit Fort Bliss, a sprawling Army base near El Paso in the coming weeks to look at a parcel of land where the administration is considering building a tent city to hold between 1,000 and 5,000 children, according to U.S. officials and other sources familiar with the plans.

HHS officials confirmed that they’re looking at the Fort Bliss site along with Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene and Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo for potential use as temporary shelters.

Sheriff Arpaio is so proud today.

For children these will truly be death camps, to some extent so were Arpaio's.

Arizona's 'concentration camp': why was Tent City kept open for 24 years?

When asked about the comment by the Guardian in July, Arpaio brushed it off as a joke. “But even if it was a concentration camp, what difference does it make? I still survived. I still kept getting re-elected,” he said.

The jail survived too. For more than 20 years, Tent City stood within a larger jail compound in an industrial area 10 minutes south of downtown Phoenix. At its peak in the late 1990s, it comprised 82 Korean war-era military tents and housed 1,700 inmates. After 2009, it could hold up to 200 undocumented immigrants.

....

For months at a time, inmates sentenced for minor crimes slept under the green cloth tents on bunk beds perched on large cement slabs on gravel. In the summer, temperatures inside could reach up to 54C (130F) in the dry Arizona heat. Though there was an indoor air-conditioned unit where detainees could shower and take sick relief from the heat, they weren’t allowed to sleep there.

They are working so hard at breaking up tent cities for the homeless and now they want to build some for children so they can freeze to death in the winter. Hell, why not? They are just people. Face it, if this keeps going on we are going to be living in a country that follows NK's policies.

Because that's what's lurking in the subconscious of these psychopaths, who think Thomas Paine was sketching his Plan For America.

You know what else is lurking inside the hearts of these sick fucks? Murder, mayhem, chaos, blood in the streets. The seizure of women and their distribution to the Incels.

What they dream of is not how it will end -- it will end in the smoking ruin of this nation.

You know what I'm dreaming of right now? Really bad things happening to the people pushing this nazism.

hurt the children's cause because people of course blow them off as ridiculous and in the process don't hear what's really happening. The same desert that gets killing hot during the day gets cold at night, and right now many of these children are sleeping on concrete slabs without even proper blankets. That is cruel and inhuman treatment of children.

by the dozens and hundreds, the Republican leadership's game would be over.

Isn't causing fear, children crying for their parents, physical discomfort (even occasionally misery), negligent and inadequate care, long hours of doing nothing, lack of toys, playgrounds and schooling evil enough?

It is. It is evil, and it's so far over the line that the line isn't even visible.

couldn't happen, but our democracy would have to first be destroyed. Right now we can vote to say no and would.

Speaking of, the midterms are only 146 days away now. Every 2 years our system gives us a chance to say a huge NO!

Then what needs to happen is that the UN needs to call it what it is: a crime against humanity. Once that's done, the International Criminal Court needs to indict everyone involved in this, from Trump right on down to the guards at the camps, and then issue arrest warrants for them to Interpol. And if any of them enter the jurisdiction of another country, those warrants need to be served, and the people named need to stand trial for crimes against humanity before the world community.

This is sickening. Enforcing the law is one thing, but being needlessly cruel in doing so is quite another. That he's even considering this turns my stomach. Just when you think he can sink no lower, he finds a new and twisted way to prove you wrong. It's no wonder he's making light of Kim Jong Un's crimes against humanity. He just views it as smart governance, evidently.

I'm just stunned that this is a thing our government is considering in 2018.

At least as a matter of principle. I don't foresee a foreign country arresting a sitting U.S. President. But they can definitely make noise in the U.N. about it. Perhaps sanctions?

As a practical matter, I think all we in the States can do is protest and do everything in our power to defeat Trump's agenda by voting against him and his cronies.

Putting them into foster care ensures that they will be deprived education, health, love. They will be stripped of their native languages, their cultural heritage. They will have no home to which to return, no family, no skills.

Trump is breeding slaves.
