Stormy Daniels had been scheduled to be interviewed Monday by prosecutors in the Southern District of New York, preparing for a potential grand jury appearance about a $130,000 payment from President Trumps attorney Michael Cohen in exchange for her silence about an alleged affair with Trump, according to a person familiar with the investigation, but her lawyer said late Sunday that the meeting has been canceled.
Michael Avenatti said he received a call late Sunday from two prosecutors who said they were concerned about media interest in the interview and canceled the meeting, according to the Associated Press.
Daniels and Avenatti have been cooperating with prosecutors and provided documents about the payment, made shortly before the 2016 election, in response to a subpoena, said the person, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to provide the information about Mondays interview.
A spokesman for the U.S. attorney and attorneys for Cohen declined to comment.

(43,322 posts)It's been cancelled as scheduled, to avoid a press media circus.
I bet it's been rescheduled for another time, or another location, or both.

(2,574 posts)I really enjoy Michael Avenatti but also believe in SDNY. If they turn out to be crooked I'll eat my hat. Mueller trusts them. I trust Mueller. Therefore I believe that this is somehow all right.

(30,613 posts)The circus atmosphere might actually harm the case, so it makes sense, if they can proceed without the interview.
