Trump says he is considering 2 women for Supreme Court, will announce pick July 9

President Trump said Friday he has narrowed his list of Supreme Court finalists to five candidates, including two women, and plans to announce his nominee on July 9, one day before he is scheduled to depart for a week-long European trip.

Trump is moving quickly to fill the vacancy that will be created when Justice Anthony M. Kennedy retires from the court July 31. Kennedy announced his retirement Wednesday, in part to give the Senate time to consider a nominee and hold votes before the midterm elections in November.

“I like them all,” Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One. “It is a group of highly talented, very brilliant, mostly conservative judges.”

Trump has said he will select a nominee from a list of 25 names, many of them judges on federal and state courts across the country.

If Dems plan to appeal to women voters using women's rights, picking a woman to fill Kennedy's seat is a smart ploy. It allows the GOP to paint Dems as hypocrits on women saying things like "how can you support women/women's rights and oppose a woman nominee to the supreme court?". It also puts pressure on Collins and Murkowski to back a woman nominee as they are also outspoken advocates for women's rights.

If you were related to that thing, would you inject yourself into the news? I wouldn't. Especially if I had the choice to lay low. No one knows how toxic he is like his family does. The only ones who cheer for him are the ones financially beholden to him.

Female, young at 49 years old, from Michigan, and she is rated Well Qualified by the ABA. She also was able to get 60 votes for her confirmation to the 6th Circuit in 2017. 8 Dems voted for her.

Both very conservative. And it's a smart ploy because it defangs the "anti-women's rights" argument. Not sure how the rabid Trumpists will feel about this, but my guess is it won't sway them from supporting him.
