Trump Congratulates Leftist President-Elect of Mexico: 'There is Much to be Done'

Trump’s public attacks on Mexico and its government have been an embarrassing thorn in the side of current President Enrique Peña Nieto, who will be succeeded by Lopez Obrador at the end of his six-year term.

Despite his reputation as a leftist firebrand (Lopez Obrador is apparently tight with Jeremy Corbyn) the New York Times noted that he has something in common with the U.S. president:

In this way, and others, the parallels between Mr. López Obrador and President Trump are hard to ignore. Both men are tempestuous leaders, who are loath to concede a political fight. Both men lash out at enemies, and view the media with suspicion.

Given the unpopularity of Trump in Mexico, however, don’t expect these warm words to last for very long.

2. Trump's oh so clever MO

So predictable. So meaningless.

Lavish them first with adoring praise. (like he did with other leaders like Trudeau and Macron) No matter how left or right or even downright crazy and brutal. In his mind he is thinking 'what could another peer do with me to get me to soften up before we even get into anything?'......Flattery! To the point where he has come to expect it from everyone he meets towards himself as well.

So that is how it starts. As the year goes by, if he has any problem with what they are doing, or if he wants to get something from them, or just to get a political bump, he flips 180 and starts to verbally abuse them in public. There is no middle ground. In fact he almost gleefully anticipates it. Its direct from The Bullies Playbook. For maximum meanness, which they live on, you bring up your isolated victim's esteem by hinting that you like them and maybe even hang out together, be a part of the popular group. Its then so much "fun" to later trip them and have all his gang point and laugh and he says "Hahahahahaha...did you really think I'd want to hang around with such a #%#%# _________ loser!" I don't think he even thinks any deal can even get done without this approach coming to its inevitable conclusion....that no deal gets done, or a deal heavily leaning in his favor gets done by a beaten down adversary.

I can see this approach is what he's trying with Kim Jong Un. There is only one reason why he'd cozy up so publicaly with him. That's for him to get "evidence" of how much he tried to get Un on board, to be nice, so that at some point, say after the next nuclear missle test by N Korea, thumbing its nose at the world, Trump can say "You've all seen I've done the most I can possibly do to use the nice guy approach, so now I have to go the other way. The other way meaning the most extreme other way...

I have a feeling that this may be the last time he ever gives a positive statement to Obrador.
