Ron Paul tweets racist cartoon, faces backlash
Source: The Hill
Former Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) on Monday tweeted, then deleted, a racist cartoon depicting minorities with stereotypical features punching Uncle Sam.
The cartoon features a Jewish man with a hooked nose, a black man with exaggerated lips, an Asian man with slanted eyes and a man who looks like a neanderthal punching Uncle Sam and yelling cultural Marxism!

Are you stunned by what has become of American culture? Paul said in the tweet. Well, its not an accident. Youve probably heard of cultural Marxism, but do you know what it means?
Paul faced enormous backlash on social media, with some people drawing parallels between the image and Nazi propaganda.

(160,527 posts)I'm not familiar with Glen Greenwald's musings upon Ron Paul, who has been known for his rancid, hateful racism for years.
The focus should be upon the particularly hateful vicious cartoon images of human beings Ron Paul doesn't like because of their skin color.

The funny meta question: that's obviously not a real Ben Garrison cartoon because it's not labeled to explain it to imbeciles. Did someone alter it to mock Garrison? To troll? Just to watch the world burn?

Based on Know your Meme posts, this is the work of a troll who takes existing (and deeply crazy) Garrison artwork and changes the faces.

Cultural Marxism? Oh, so that must be the new nut job frame for leaving people the hell alone and letting them have the freedom to live their lives as they see fit, no matter who they are or where they come from. Kind of ironic coming from a libertarian, but then again, not so much. For the most part, they're authoritarian Rethugs who want to smoke pot. They have no problem with authoritarianism as long as THEY are in authority.

They have completely disconnected Russia (as being the reference point of this nonsensical imagery) and their President's full-on embrace of that country's leadership, from their narrative.

(18,628 posts)I clicked this post thinking it was something with implied racism and was being overblown by the left, but this is ridiculous. If Ron Paul didn't think this was overtly racist, he doesn't deserve a seat on the US Congress. Those images harken to the days following WWII, and his constituents should remember this next time he runs.
He needs to be officially sanctioned, at the least so people never forget his true feeling toward the people in his district.

No one believes that was "inadvertently posted" or that it was a "mistake". It's just about possible that the racist staffer made it public when they meant to keep it private among Paul's tight circle of racists - I've never used Twitter's DM facility so I've no idea how easy it is to mistake public tweeting for it.

He says the post was immediately deleted.
(I bet it was! I'm guessing that it was probably was meant only for internal office 'passing around' by his staff, and there was no mention of whether the 'staffer' still had a job. If I had to venture a guess, I'd say that his job is secure, and he was maybe told to be a little more careful when he hits 'Send' to make sure it stays internal and not let this stuff be getting out into the world for others to see.)
