UPDATED: Trump: We'd Be at War With North Korea if Not For Me

Source: Mediate

by Ken Meyer | 7:40 am, July 3rd, 2018

As Donald Trump delivered a new series of morning Twitter ramblings, he slammed the “fake news” media while defending his administration’s handling of North Korea.

When the president met with Kim Jong Un in Singapore several weeks ago, he insisted that he reached an understanding with the dictator that will inevitably result in North Korea’s denuclearization. Even though the agreement Trump signed with Kim didn’t spell out any specific framework for the rogue nation’s denuclearization, the president has insisted that North Korea is no longer a nuclear threat to the United States.

Many political observers and media figures have recently expressed new skepticism about talks with North Korea, particularly due to indications that they don’t really intend to denuclearize. Satellite imaging suggests that the North Koreans are making improvements to their nuclear infrastructure, and reports say they’ve kept up nuclear production at secret locations.

Oh, and a minor note here: it seems Trump is back to calling the media the “fake news” and the ” opposition party” after the recent attack on the Capital Gazette.

UPDATE:

Trump Rails Against ‘Crazy’ Maxine Waters, Dems: ‘How Can They Win’ Midterms When They’re ‘Ripping Apart’ ICE?

by Aidan McLaughlin | 7:22 am, July 3rd, 2018

President Donald Trump is working hard to win back the narrative on immigration, using calls to abolish ICE to accuse Democrats of disrespecting U.S. law enforcement.

Since the Trump administration’s policy of separating child migrants from their families at the Southern Border caused a public outcry, calls to abolish ICE have grown popular amongst Democratic lawmakers, including Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Kamala Harris.

Trump and his allies have used those calls to claim that Democrats are tarnishing ICE agents themselves, and the president took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to preview the political angle he’s pushing ahead of the November midterm elections.

Trump then asked how Democrats “can do well in November” given they are, according to him, “weak on the Border and weak on Crime.”

1) They only signed an armistice, never a peace treaty. So the Korean War never ended and the US is still at war with North Korea.

2) The NorKs have been conducting low-grade covert cyber warfare against the West and the US for many years.

Trump has given away more to the North Koreans than any previous President and got nothing in return. He gave Kim an international summit and wants to give him a second one.

North Koreans have expanded missile production.

Silence can be taken as concession, but a simple "No" is minimal engagement with insanity.

Imagine if the "realdonaldtrump" twitter feed were filled with thousands of "No" to each of his tweets.

tRump uses Twitter to:
* have instant access to all his followers 24/7 without even being before the press, providing him with one-on-one mind control (it has the illusion of being a personal message). I would further submit that few of his followers read any of the follow-up posts because they know he's going to get blasted (and they love it).
* have instant access to millions of people of all stripes across the globe from kings to cobblers and just like Putin's theatrical mind control agents, this method sows the seeds of confusion with his fog of contradictions, deception and lies.
* have the privilege of claiming social media is informal or "off the cuff" when in reality, many influential people take this shit very seriously.
* instill an illusion that he controls much of the American system of governance from Justice to State, Commerce and the Treasury.

I think we're all suffering from the illusion that private scrutiny of official messaging has the same power as public scrutiny which traditionally has been done by the press, which supposedly provides a high degree of transparency.

Sorry for the rant, but this just is not the way a president is supposed to be a participant in government instead of leading some to think he IS government.

----------------

“I FINISHED the North Korea-US summit meeting successfully, so we’d like your country to make efforts to get the sanctions lifted as soon as possible,” Kim Jong Un told Chinese President Xi Jinping at a summit in Beijing on June 19-20.

“I’ll make my utmost efforts,” Xi told him, according to the Japanese newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun.

A week later, Russia and China began circulating a draft press statement calling on the United Nations Security Council to relax sanctions placed on the newest member of the nuclear club. While the Chinese haven’t officially removed sanctions, experts say that there’s evidence they’ve relaxed their enforcement.

That’s what the end of Donald Trump’s vaunted “maximum pressure” sanctions regime looks like. North Korea is achieving its goals — while the president is attempting to fool the American people into believing he got something meaningful in return, and hoping they fall for his flimflam.

The Korean conflict is still just under an Armistice agreement among the US (under the auspices of the UN Command), North Korea, and China implementing a cessation of hostilities, but no final treaty has even been negotiated.
