Source: The Hill

BY JUSTIN WISE - 07/03/18 12:54 PM EDT

More voters blame President Trump than Democrats for the lack of civility in politics, according to a new Quinnipiac poll.

The survey found that 91 percent of Americans say the lack of civility in politics is a serious problem, with 47 percent of respondents saying Trump is responsible for that. Thirty-seven percent pointed the finger at Democrats.

Additionally, 55 percent of adults said Trump's rhetoric has emboldened people who hold racist views to publicly express those beliefs.

The poll was conducted June 27-July 1 among a group of 1,020 voters. It has a margin of error of 3.7 percentage points.

Either a lot of people are not paying attention, or we have a lot of racists in this country who are willing to pretend Trump isn't what he is.

for lack of civility in politics??? Wow. That figure should be 27% (only trumpers).

That just shows you how good the gop is at framing issues and making mountains out of mole hills when a Dem says something they may consider "exploitable".

Do the Dems have a communications department? If so, train them better (I'm trying it to keep it civil).

do have a communication department. What they don't have is the favor of the press, so they get no air time. Or if they do get to come on the Sunday Programs, they are told what the topic is. Also the Dems do not have the money the repubs have.

if the Dems don't have the resources, they should get creative to make the resources they do have, more effective.

reps are very disciplined and effective at controlling the narrative, more resources or not. They come up with catchy names or one liners and hammer them to death until they become mainstream.

Remember death panels? How about "open borders", or "chain migration"? "Guns don't kill, people do"? "Obamacare is failing"? We could go on and on.

bullying in schools is markedly more of a problem, in the trump era. One that we know is homeschooling a good, talented, black, middle school child next year to avoid bullying - bullying in an upscale, very white school, but probably trump voting area.

' . . . easier for those with racist beliefs to share those views publicly.' And, peer pressure impressionable other kids to go along, ignore, but not object to racism.

has put out a booklet and a study of how racism and bullying are escalating. They are hearing from many teachers. They call it "The Trump Effect."
