Victim of shooting outside Kansas school has died; suspect tried to escape custody

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Overland Park, Kan., police have taken into custody a man they think shot two construction workers outside a Blue Valley elementary school in southern Overland Park on Tuesday morning.

One victim died, police reported at 2:46 p.m. The other remains in critical condition.

The shooting was reported just after 9 a.m. Tuesday outside Sunrise Point Elementary School.

A GMC Denali that the suspect stole at gunpoint after fleeing the school was found later empty at the home of the carjacking victim, police said.

1. tried to hide in plain sight

carjacked a Denali... apparently discovered the address of the owner and maybe even a house key. Drove to the guys home and parked the car and then tried to escape by foot.

As the article said... "weird"

Shooter was actually a fellow coworker of the men shot. Apparently they were arguing about something and he shot his coworkers. Guess the employer allowed employees to carry a gun at work sites. Think you can carry anywhere in Kansas.
