Police: Principal who killed NY trooper had 8 assault rifles

Source: Associated Press

Updated 3:57 pm CDT, Friday, July 6, 2018

ERWIN, N.Y. (AP) — New York state police say a school principal who killed a state trooper owned 12 illegal firearms, including eight assault rifles.

Police say Trooper Nicholas Clark was shot and killed early Monday by Steven Kiley, who had barricaded himself in a house near the Pennsylvania border.

Police on Friday said the illegal firearms recovered also included three handguns and one rifle. They also recovered numerous high-capacity magazines.

Autopsy results show Clark was struck by buckshot from a 12-gauge shotgun and that Kiley died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Kiley also had a gunshot wound from law enforcement to his chest, which would have been fatal had he not killed himself.

What is the number allowed before you are considered a dangerous killer and not a "collector" and pro 2nd Amend enthusiast? Is there a certain number that the NRA guns rights enthusiasts consider to be their official line drawn between a gun rights owner and an outright murderous person who should never have been allowed to have a gun to begin with?

GUNS KILL PEOPLE! PERIOD!

Despite his relatively large collection of unauthorized weapons, the important thing is we never hold the weapons relevant.

Consistency, thy name is Yosemite Sam.

unless you are willing to show a direct correlation between the number of guns one owns and the likelihood of killing someone.

The biggest predictor of someone killing someone else is a history of violence. No doubt that violent people are attracted to weapons. That doesn't mean that all people that own guns are violent. Logic and crime stats bear that out.

amassing an Arsenal is just a HOBBY, like collecting stamps, Beanie Babies, or 78 rpm records.

His hobby made his crime possible. No guns, no way to shoot a LEO, or himself.
