More:
The statement by an unnamed North Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman on Saturday came hours after Pompeo concluded two days of talks with North Korean officials led by Kim Yong Chol.
The statement says that the United States betrayed the spirit of last month's summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un by making unilateral demands on "CVID," or the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of North Korea.
It says the outcome of the follow-up talks was "very concerning" because it has led to a "dangerous phase that might rattle our willingness for denuclearization that had been firm."

(3,515 posts)You have to be very careful around crazy people.
And I won't identify the person I'm talking about.
Crazy people tend to cause more trouble than they end. That's my experience. They live in a world of delusion, and you don't know what they are seeing. That's the problem. They see the world in a way that is different from the way the rest of us see it. They see a different reality than we do.
As a nation, we are in a pickle.
Tillerson was the most levelheaded of the lot, and he is gone. We are left with a bunch of crazy people who don't see the world realistically.

But he stressed that theres still more work to be done in other areas, much of which would be done by working groups that the two sides have set up to deal with specific issues."

Isn't this the work that should have been done before? Like signing and sending a check before putting any money in bank.

(18,124 posts)administration knew this would happen. They needed this non-compliance from kim as fodder for their strategy.in Nov. They will turn, as they have done consistently, their stupidity into some scare tactic for their deplorably ignorant base to gnaw on...they are animals, trump and his base.

(7,142 posts)but NK claims they were regrettable. I think Don the Con is going to have to build a Trump U. in N.K. to teach them how to do Kabuki theater. NK was just supposed to pretend, act out, that they were complying with all of Trump's demands, not actually denuclearize.
Hey, Trump still can tell his base that NK is blowing up its test site that was already destroyed by an earthquake.
Onward to the secret Putin talks.

(6,881 posts)The North provided a much harsher assessment of the talks, saying that the United States betrayed the spirit of last months summit between President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim by making one-sided and robber-like demands on CVID, or the complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of North Korea.
It said the outcome of the follow-up talks was very concerning because it has led to a dangerous phase that might rattle our willingness for denuclearization that had been firm.
We had expected that the U.S. side would offer constructive measures that would help build trust based on the spirit of the leaders summit ... we were also thinking about providing reciprocal measures, an unnamed spokesman of Pyongyangs Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the Norths official Korean Central News Agency.
However, the attitude and stance the United States showed in the first high-level meeting (between the countries) was no doubt regrettable, the spokesman said.

(1,513 posts)Im shocked. I was so confident that Trump, through the sheer force of his magnificent personality and his great, well educated brain that has all the best words, had succeeded where legions of professional diplomats had failed that Im simply stunned.
Could this mean that nothing was accomplished but raising the status of North Korea while making huge concessions that harm us and our allies and benefit China and North Korea?
How can this be?😱

(16,917 posts)There should have been many "foreign service officers" involved in this from the beginning, but IQ45 doesn't want or "need" them - he's the "Master of the Deal."
Meanwhile, the State Department (home of "foreign service officers" ) is in total chaos with many offices having vacancies that have not been filled (since the election!) and serious budget cuts taking out many more duties and responsibilities that the State Department would handle.
Here's a link covering the resignation of one former ambassador - a chilling story indeed:

(6,881 posts)Trump has no leverage left to negotiate. Weak. His world in ruins he has only Putin's shoulder to cry on and any "deal" with President Novichok will only confirm Russian influence in his election. Even over at Fox News they are at a loss how to spin this. They're not even allowing any comments on the story. And Drudge is ignoring it. Fingers crossed but this may be Trump's very, very bad day when the chickens finally come home to roost.
