Washington (CNN) - House Freedom Caucus members are being urged to stand by Rep. Jim Jordan amid allegations that he knew about, but did not report, the alleged sexual abuse of wrestlers he coached at Ohio State University in the early 1990s.
Rep. Mark Meadows, who chairs the House Freedom Caucus, called on members to support Jordan, an Ohio Republican who's one of the founders of the conservative voting bloc.
"I have always known Jim Jordan to be a man of the utmost character, honor and integrity. As the independent investigation is concluded, I'm confident people will learn the truth and it will confirm all he has said about the situation," the North Carolina Republican told CNN on Friday. "I'm proud to stand by Jim Jordan and support him 100% and call on all of my colleagues to do the same."
It remains unclear, however, whether the nearly three dozen lawmakers who make up the Freedom Caucus will heed Meadows' advice and defend Jordan publicly when they return to Capitol Hill next week.

At last count, the five wrestlers that went to Jim Jordan were also of the utmost character, honor, and integrity. I tend to believe them far more than I do Jim Jordan. He got caught, playing by the so called rules of the gentleman's society club back then (to ignore anything negative that would hurt the school/institution).

(8,200 posts)His bullying and tough guy persona are disguises to shield his real nature. These types are as phony as the ultra-religious Bible beaters that are cunning sexual predators. I wouldn't trust him any more with my son than I would trust Trump with my daughter. There is something slimy about this guy. What man with an ounce of character would continue to support Trump a proven and admitted sexual molester unless they share the same moral corruption. You could take all the integrity in this administration and put it in a gnats navel and have room left for three sesame seeds.

(1,721 posts)The only rule Republicans have is that the end justifies the means. They have an agenda. It does not matter to them how they accomplish their objectives. If democratic processes, like voting, get in the way, then cheat. Stop certain people from voting. Lie. Misrepresent. Dance with the enemy. Take dirty money. Defend colleagues whose behavior is inappropriate or unethical, or even illegal. Defend the most despicable president in the history of our country.
