Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach has complied with a judge's order by fully registering thousands of voters whose eligibility to cast a ballot had been in limbo because of the state's now-defunct proof-of-citizenship requirement, according to court records.
Some 25,000 Kansans will have their voting status solidified ahead of the Aug. 7 primary as a result of the move. Kobach is seeking the Republican nomination for governor in that election, challenging incumbent Jeff Colyer.
According to a report the parties in the case jointly filed Sunday, Kobach told U.S. District Judge Julie Robinson that there are no longer any Kansas registrations in suspense or canceled for lack of citizenship documents. He informed Robinson that he is in fully compliance with her order that all registrants receive the same information from county election offices and vote using the same poll books.
Robinson ruled last month that Kansas cannot require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote, finding such laws are unconstitutional. The decision struck down the Kansas proof-of-citizenship registration law and made permanent an earlier injunction that had temporarily blocked it.

He may declare he is in 'full compliance' or he may be 'fully compliant' but such fracturing of the King's English is shameful and it occurs on major news sites all week long

(43,115 posts)so proper English is required. From this article there is no way of knowing the words he used in the courtroom.

Does that also include a lack of commas when grammatically necessary, or do we simply hold ourselves to a lower standard than those we criticize?
(my guess is the second with a juicy rationalization to follow, as 'king' is only capitalized when preceding names of royalty... as per AP Stylebook)

(6,137 posts)E.g. in my county we vote by mail and once votes are certified I can go to the registars website, enter info and it will show if and when I voted. If the ballot is rejected for whatever reason, the county will notify via mail. There must always be accountability and all voters need a way and take initiative to check that their ballot was counted. In a way local elections may even be more important in this political climate to ensure competent people with integrity running election system in the state.
