Trump tells Putin his 'stupid' staff didn't want the two leaders to speak

A Monday New York Times report revealed that when President Donald Trump spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone, the American leader attacked his own staff.

“Those are stupid people; you shouldn’t listen to them,” Trump told Putin, one source said.

“He told Mr. Putin that Russia and the United States should get along better,” The Times wrote. “And he commiserated with Mr. Putin over Trump administration officials whom the Russian president said had tried to prevent the call from happening, according to a person with direct knowledge of the conversation.”

Trump and Putin are set to meet during the NATO summit on July 16th.
