DOD Says It Won't Foot Bill For Housing Detained Immigrant Families On Bases

Source: Talking Points Memo

By Nicole Lafond | July 10, 2018 7:54 am

The Department of Defense on Monday said it anticipates being reimbursed for all the time and resources it’s devoting to detaining immigrant families on its military bases, Foreign Policy reported.

A Pentagon spokesperson said in a statement that the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Health and Human Services would be responsible for caring for the 32,000 immigrants in detention, and would need to reimburse the DOD for its work preparing to house the families on bases.

“DOD is not going to have any involvement, any interaction with the children or the families,” the spokesperson said.

The Pentagon is currently conducting environmental reviews at two of its military bases, according to Foreign Policy and DHS has asked the Pentagon to build tents to house up to 4,000 family members, starting with Fort Bliss in Texas and New Mexico.

The grifter in chief cares nothing for military readiness, and spends money hand over fist that isn't his so he an reap the huge bribes. He's paying DeVos company $700/day/child which encompasses a great deal of profit for her and "commissions" for him and Sessions. Since the money is not in the budget, he'll just steal from the already super-inflated and unneeded military budget. Unfortunately DOD doesn't agree but can they do one thing about it other than bitch?

7. The DoD should never have agreed to take in any of them to begin with.

Fort Bliss is conveniently right outside El Paso. But so what.

Multiple-day detentions should never have been part of DHH's s.o.p., anyway.

DHH should always have been able to handle its business without all this detention bullshit.

The next prez better overhaul that poorly run agency.
