BURNS -- Harney County ranchers Dwight Hammond Jr. and Steven Hammond, fresh from federal prison following a pardon by President Donald Trump, stepped off a private jet at Burns Municipal Airport on Wednesday morning to a crush of well-wishers and their family. ... "There's no way we can thank everybody enough," Dwight Hammond said with his arm around his wife, Susie. ... A short time later, the crowd that had gathered started clapping and a chorus of "welcome home" and "we love you" broke out.

People started gathering at the airport several hours earlier with American flags, signs and stickers handed out and slapped on cars reading: "Trump freed the Hammonds! He is our president!" .... Dwight Hammond, 76, and Steven Hammond, 49, were convicted in 2012 of arson on Harney County land where they had grazing rights for their cattle. Both were convicted of setting a fire in 2001, and the son was convicted of setting a second fire in 2006.
....

The nonprofit group Protect the Harvest, founded by oil executive Forrest Lucas to support American farmers, ranchers, outdoor enthusiasts and animal owners, worked behind the scenes with U.S. Rep. Greg Walden, R-Oregon, to get the ear of the White House in considering the clemency petitions filed by each Hammond.
....

"We brought it to the attention of the vice president,'' said David Duquette, a Hermiston resident who serves as national strategic planner for the advocacy group. "Mike Pence and Forrest Lucas are good friends.'' ... Lucas, the multimillionaire oil magnate and backer of the Indianapolis Colts, and Pence, an Indiana native, have known each other for a long time. Lucas said he spoke to Pence after he was put into contact with Dwight Hammond Jr.

That's not this one. Maybe tomorrow the info will be posted.

Per this 2014 article, his plane is a Citation Bravo:

What is Forrest Lucas going to buy next?

Here's another of Lucas' great business qualities: He doesn't pay retail for anything. Everything from his mansion and cattle ranch in Missouri to his Citation Bravo business jet and his railroad (yes, he owns a railroad), he gets for pennies on the dollar, or a million on the 10 million. And he always pays cash. He is proud of never having borrowed money to build his empire. So by the time he bought MavTV--for cash, duh--the entity was almost going under, and he got a great deal.

he didn't feel like he had wasted at ticket at the Colts game when he walked out - he didn't even pay for it!

(But we paid for flying him from California and back just to pull that 2-bit stunt!)

Unlikely alliance set Oregon ranchers' pardons in motion

When Dwight and Steven Hammond left federal prison Tuesday, it was in large part thanks to a Portland attorney who was politically and culturally their opposite.

Larry Matasar, 68, is a political progressive who volunteered on Barack Obama's 2008 campaign. He's a self-described child of the '60s and rock aficionado who has attended more than 100 Bruce Springsteen shows. He's an urban creature from Chicago's South Side.

"It's a long, long way from Burns," he said in reference to the Eastern Oregon town nearest the Hammonds' remote 12,000-acre ranch.

Yet Matasar has represented the family for 25 years and connected with them personally. It was Matasar who represented the father and son in the controversial arson case that made them unwitting heroes in the anti-government land rights movement.

Oregon ranchers pardoned by Trump fly home on Pence donor's private jet

One day after President Trump pardoned two Oregon ranchers who were at the center of a 40-day armed standoff, the pair flew home on the private jet of an oil company founder who once donated $50,000 to Vice President Pence.

The ranchers, Dwight and Steven Hammond, made the trip on Wednesday with Lucas Oil founder Forrest Lucas, according to a post on Protect the Harvest's Facebook page, a nonprofit founded by Lucas. ... The Hammonds were convicted in 2012 and sentenced to five years in prison on arson charges. The two had set a series of fires on their ranch that spread to federal land.
....

Lucas reportedly donated $50,000 to Pence and his wife while Pence was running for governor of Indiana. According to the Times, Lucas also gave Pence two tickets worth $774 to attend an Indianapolis Colts game in 2017.

Lucas, whose company also reportedly owns the naming rights to the NFL team's Lucas Oil Stadium, has lobbied extensively against animal-rights activists. The Times reported that Lucas used Protect the Harvest to lobby for the Hammonds' release.
