COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) Charges were dropped Thursday against porn actress Stormy Daniels, just hours after she was arrested while performing at an Ohio strip club and charged with letting patrons touch her in violation of a state law. Her attorney said she was set up in a Columbus police sting operation, something police deny.
Charging documents say Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, was arrested for touching a patron at a sexually oriented business in violation of the law commonly known as the Community Defense Act.
The documents said that Daniels, who was semi-nude, allegedly touched some of the patrons breasts and allowed them to touch her. She allegedly performed the same act with several officers who approached the stage and forced one officers head into her bare chest.
She was released on bail before 6 a.m. Thursday. Daniels posted $6,000.

LCOLUMBUS (WCMH/AP) -- Charges against porn actress Stormy Daniels were dropped Thursday hours after she was arrested at a Columbus strip club for allegedly letting patrons touch her in violation of a state law, her attorney said Thursday.
According to a tweet from her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, the Columbus City Attorney's office approved a motion to dismiss the charges against Daniels.
Columbus City Attorney Zack Klein released the following statement Thursday afternoon:
My office has reviewed the charges filed by the Columbus Division of Police, and Ive determined that these crimes were not committed, based on the fact that Ms. Clifford has not made regular appearances at this establishment as required under the law. Well do the same inquiry for the other defendants involved, as well. My office was not involved in this sting operation, so any additional questions about it must be directed to the Columbus Division of Police. The charges have been dismissed.

(6,881 posts)Officials said Stormy Daniels arrest at a strip club in Columbus, Ohio was a mistake due to a misinterpretation of the law she broke, the Associated Press reports. Columbus police chief Kim Jacobs said one element of the law was missed in error when Daniels was arrested on Wednesday night for illegally rubbing undercover police officers faces against her bare breasts, since the law is only applicable to those who regularly perform at strip clubs and Daniels performance was her first time at the venue. A mistake was made, and I accept full responsibility, Jacobs said hours after prosecutors dropped the three misdemeanor charges against Daniels. Jacobs also said that the motivations of the officers will be reviewed internally. Daniels lawyer Michael Avenatti posted unsubstantiated screenshots of what he said were pro-Trump social media posts by the arresting officer. Daniels, who is currently suing President Trump after she claimed to have an affair with him before he became president, is currently on a tour performing at strip clubs around the country.
