A Tory MP has faced calls to resign after posting an ‘Islamophobic’ image of London Mayor Sadiq Khan having sex with a pig.

Michael Fabricant posted, then deleted the image, which referred to Khan’s decision to permit a balloon depicting Trump as a baby to fly over London.

MPs and critics have described the image as ‘vile’ and ‘Islamophobic’, and called on him to resign.

Labour’s Chuka Umunna said that the image was evidence the Conservatives have a problem with Islamophobia.

Separately, Channel 4’s FactCheck has asked Fabricant why he apparently had the flag of apartheid South Africa on the mantelpiece of his office. It appeared in the background when he was interviewed by Channel 4 News this week.
