Trump gloats about his ‘takedown’ of CNN’s Jim Acosta before Twitter ranting about his 2016 Electoral College win

TOM BOGGIONI
14 JUL 2018 AT 07:48 ET

While most of America was asleep, President Donald Trump was awake in Scotland where he said he was going to play golf (“my primary form of exercise!”) and ranting at the media once again on Twitter.

Earlier in the morning Trump called the indictment of 12 high ranking Russian officials charged with influencing the 2016 presidential campaign “stories” before — once again — attacking CNN.

Referring to a press conference in England where he refused to take a question from CNN correspondent Jim Acosta, the president gloated that it was a “takedown” and he was anxious to see if the “Fake News” covered it.

“So funny! I just checked out Fake News CNN, for the first time in a long time (they are dying in the ratings), to see if they covered my takedown yesterday of Jim Acosta (actually a nice guy). They didn’t! But they did say I already lost in my meeting with Putin. Fake News,” he tweeted before adding, “Remember, it was Little Jeff Z [Zucker] and his people, who are told exactly what to say, who said I could not win the election in that ‘there was no way to 270’ (over & over again) in the Electoral College. I got 306! They were sooooo wrong in their election coverage. Still hurting!”

The nation, along with the entire world, is facing a profound upheaval comparable to that of the Industrial Revolution in which our nation went from a 65% family farm culture to 35% between 1865 and 1900 and which steadily continued to today's 8% of family farms. The age of automation is in full swing and has accounted for 85% of the loss jobs in manufacturing and general clerical positions with more reductions in sight. The Intelligence Age with its promise of artificial intelligence promises to portend even greater and more rapid change.

The situation demands highly informed intelligent directors in control analogous to the administration's that engineered the recovery following WWII. These included the Marshall Plan that saved Western Europe from Russian domination and progressive plans that put a college education within the grasp of the working class, especially the GI Bill that provided veterans with not only educational, but assistance in business creation and housing. These highly effective programs were made possible because of joint cooperation of Democrats and Republicans who put the welfare of the nation ahead of politics. The election of a two-bit actor, who was the bought and paid for puppet of the wealthy, signaled the end of full cooperation and the onslaught of demonizing of the Democrats by the Republicans. The major factor was the repeal of the Fairness Doctrine in broadcasting and the ownership of multiple radio stations. The rest is the resulting history that takes us to today's crisis and paralysis of government.

It isn't hyperbole to say that we are facing a critical challenge and that the 2018 and 2020 elections are critical. The government under the continued control of the Republicans, who are unable to comprehend the situation, must be defeated. Their ridiculous adherence to nostalgic dreams of the recreation of an age gone by is an exercise in pure fantasy. The young people must be awakened to the challenge as to what type of government will meet the demands that they will face. Their most powerful weapon is the vote and failure to do places their destiny in the hands of the oligarchs and the a dismal future.

Actually, I think everyone except his idiot supporters thought Trump made as ass of himself by trying to publicly humiliate a member of the independent media, and then immediately taking a question from a reporter from the American Pravda network, FOX.

A year and a half in, and he's still talking about his Electoral College 'win'.

Alexandra Petri pointed this out, 17 months ago:
"It turns out that when Trump said “we don’t win anymore” and “you will get sick of winning,” what he meant was that he will answer every question put to him over the next several years by telling you the story of how he won the election. I am sick of winning, definitely. "

There is often no rhyme or reason to what he does or says. He tends to be in the moment for the most part, reactive and intentionally destructive. He seems to thrive on being unpredictable and chaotic, as if that was a good thing. He reminds me of a cartoon villain who destroys things just because he can.

He senses, in a low, unintelligent way, the best way to lie and grift, what would be best for li'l donnie in any given situation.

Every time he reacts off the cuff and pulls some disastrous outrageous bonehead move, he's trusting his gut and instinct, that sensed a threat to him getting more money and power, or a threat of punishment for his constant criminal actions.

Just my opinion. He's definitely not intelligent, or a planner.

But the incident was widely covered, including by CNN, who featured Acosta reacting directly and suggesting that the president’s comment itself was “fake news.”

“Well he does take questions from CNN, he took a question from me in Singapore at the conclusion of his summit with Kim Jong Un, but putting that aside, perhaps his own version of fake news there in saying that,” Acosta said.

Acosta went on to say that he asked a question of the president as he and May were leaving the conference, this time with more success.

“I asked, ‘Mr. President, will you tell Putin to stay out of U.S. elections?’ and he did turn around and say, ‘yes.’” Acosta said.

18. Association with him has screwed the course - it lost hosting the Open because of him
Sat Jul 14, 2018, 09:57 AM
Jul 2018
When Donald Trump bought the historic Turnberry golf course in Scotland last year for a reported $60 million, it was with dreams of hosting the British Open there. The stage was set for him to get his wish: reports over the past few years had said that the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews (R&A), golf’s governing authority everywhere outside the U.S., was likely to give Trump the 2020 tournament, officially known as the Open Championship (to golf fans, simply The Open).

Now, after his most recent comments about Muslims, a 2020 British Open at Trump Turnberry is out of the question, according to a report from The Independent on Sunday. “2020 will not happen here,” the U.K. paper quotes an R&A insider as saying. “Turnberry will be back. But perhaps not Trump Turnberry.”

That sounds like as long as Turnberry is linked to Trump, it may not have a shot at ever hosting the prestigious major. The Independent quotes another R&A member as saying, “One word was thrown around: Enough.” The report also has a PGA official in the U.S. saying, “Trump has been good for golf, and golf has been good to Trump. Can we live without him? Maybe we’ll have to.”
...
Turnberry has hosted four British Opens—in 1977, 1986, 1994 and 2009. Trump bought it in April of 2014. Since then, it did get to host the 2015 RICOH Women’s British Open, though the LPGA released a statement that suggested it wanted to move the event, but didn’t have time. “With just three weeks until the championship, a change in venue for this prestigious major simply isn’t feasible without significantly diminishing the event,” the July statement said. “By no means, however, does this decision suggest support for Mr. Trump’s comments. The LPGA will continue its commitment to diversity and inclusion in the game of golf as it has done for the last 65 years.”
