Congressional race called a toss-up in Maine's 2nd District
Source: Sun Journal
Things just got tougher for U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquins bid for a third term in Maines hardscrabble 2nd District.
The Cook Political Report, a respected guide to races across the nation, switched the Republican incumbents bid from leaning Poliquins way to being a toss-up.
Democrat Jared Golden, a 35-year-old U.S. Marine veteran from Lewiston, moved up in the ratings Friday in part because hes poised to take advantage of a national trend away from the GOP, the report said.

Told ya peeps. I was talking about this race with someone on here recently and they seemed to think the race wasn't competitive. Well, it is. I love Golden. He represents my district in the Maine House right now. He seems like a great, down to Earth guy. I've met him a few times. Lewiston is a small city. I guess we shall see how sick the second district people are with Republican brain washing. Maine has many independent voters, so I think Golden has a real good chance and I already know a few moderate Republicans that support him. I think Golden just seems more like an actual person you'd find in Maine second district. Poliquin comes across like he is some ex wall street business man turned politician and that's precisely what he is too, but you can just tell by looking at him. Anyhow, that's not very relatable to people around here. Fyi, the gop response in the article makes it sound like the Republicans have had the ME-2 house seat forever. Not so. Poliquin got in after Democrat Mike Michaud have up that seat to run for govenor. Mike Michaud had that seat for like six terms and then before him was another Democrat John Baldacci. Poliquin has won twice, but each time it was against the same opponent. Democrats selected Emily Cain to run against Poliquin both times. I think it was a mistake to run her again if she couldn't win against him the first time around. Honestly, I think it was a combo of sexism and Cain not being from Maine originally that lost it for us. Golden won't have those particular issues at least and then being an ex marine is a big plus.
