Gowdy rules out Rosenstein impeachment

Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) on Sunday ruled out the possibility of impeaching Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, saying there is not enough support for his ouster.
"I'm not convinced there is a movement," Gowdy said on CBS's "Face the Nation," citing Politico's recent report that a group of GOP lawmakers are preparing to impeach Rosenstein.
Conservatives frustrated with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian involvement in the 2016 election have long targeted Rosenstein. Some lawmakers claim he has delayed their investigation into FBI agents involved in Mueller's investigation who they feel are biased against President Trump.

"Impeach him for what?" Gowdy said. "No."

(21,624 posts)It's the same old two-step from them: Make a token ethical gesture, make sure the media broadcasts it to the four winds, and when they lose interest turn right around and do the opposite.
As provincial as he may look, Gowdy Doody is as shifty as they come.

(21,624 posts)The fact that Rosenstein is Jewish has made him the perfect villain in their eyes.
As you know, he's become the preferred go-to punching bag in right-wing circles whenever they're in a fix. Never seems to get old.

Rosenstein means business, and he knows it.

(27,813 posts)... by the indictments announced on Friday. Any move to shut down Mueller's investigation (which is the sole reason for wanting to oust Rosenstein) at this point will be seen for what it is: putting defending Trump ahead of defending the country against Russian attacks.
As always, Mueller plays his hand well and his timing is impeccable.

(37,648 posts)Rosenstein seems to be one of the few ethical Republicans in the administration, a standup guy. A straight arrow, as they say. He's the kind of person the country needs in office. We're lucky to have him. Imagine if we had a David Nunes in that position.

(11,885 posts)As a co-conspirator, especially for obstruction , and being involved . After both the House and Senate are retaken over by the Democrats we'll see what a real investigation looks like , and see people like Gowdy and Nunes , and others as they are put under oath answering questions from their investigations obstructions.
