WASHINGTON (REUTERS) - U.S. House Speaker Paul Ryan, following President Donald Trump's remarks on Russia on Monday, said there was "no question" that Moscow interfered in the U.S. 2016 election and that Trump "must appreciate that Russia is not our ally."
"There is no moral equivalence between the United States and Russia, which remains hostile to our most basic values and ideals. The United States must be focused on holding Russia accountable and putting an end to its vile attacks on democracy," Ryan said in a statement.

UPDATE:
House speaker: Trump must appreciate that Russia is not our ally, cites intelligence that it interfered in U.S. election

Paul Ryans statement came shortly after President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putins news conference in Helsinki. Trump cast doubt on U.S. intelligence findings and said Putin strongly denied interfering in the U.S. election.
Ryan said that there is no question Russia interfered and continues to undermine democracy around the world, stressing that it was the finding of U.S. intelligence and a House committee. The Wisconsin Republican said there is no moral equivalence between the United States and Russia.
This is a developing story. It will be updated.

(5,914 posts)Sometimes you can only describe something using another language. And that is a perfect way to describe Paul Ryan.

(9,126 posts)Urging them to denounce Trump's performance today. (I know...I ain't holding my breath.)
If these people are ever going to do the right thing, we've got to put a ton of pressure on them so they'll start putting distance between themselves and Trump.
Maybe by the time Mueller's report comes out, they'll see which way the wind is blowing and jettison Trump to save their sorry asses.
