Schiff moves to subpoena interpreter from Trump, Putin meeting
Source: The Hill
The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee on Thursday moved to subpoena the interpreter present at President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putins recent private meeting.
It is our motion that the interpreter be subpoenaed to come and testify in closed session before our committee, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Cali.) said during a public hearing on Chinas threats to American government.
The California Democrat argued that the interpreter could have witnessed a key exchange which would shed light on U.S. national security matters.
I regret that we have to request this in todays meeting. We requested a business meeting next week, but that request has been declined. This may be our last opportunity before we go into an extended recess to vote to subpoena the interpreter and find out if there are any other national security problems that arose from this meeting, Schiff continued.

(8,261 posts)members that didn't INSIST on attending that meeting? They should be subpoenaed too. Why would those bozos let IQ45 in that meeting without someone in his cabinet be there too? This reeks of collusion.

House Republicans defeat attempt to subpoena Trump interpreter

Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) initially declined to recognize Schiffs motion before recessing the panel for about 20 minutes. When it reconvened, the committee voted along party lines, 11-6, to table Schiffs attempt to bring the interpreter before the committee.
