Trump lashes out at European Unions massive Google fine, citing it as evidence that he is right about E.U.s unfair behavior

I told you so! President Trump tweeted. The European Union just slapped a Five Billion Dollar fine on one of our great companies, Google. They truly have taken advantage of the U.S., but not for long!
Trump is using the E.U.s $5.1 billion antitrust fine on Google for practices on its Android mobile platform as evidence for what he has been saying about Europes exploitation of the United States on a variety of matters, including trade and nations contributions to defense spending.
Trump on Wednesday promised tremendous retribution, particularly on European-made cars, if the E.U. doesnt change its trade policies, and he has raised doubts about the U.S. commitment to NATO.
This is a developing story. It will be updated.

(9,981 posts)I just read this article from Bloomberg about how authoritarian governments are using social media to stifle protests and neutralize opponents, including members of the press.https://www.bloomberg.com/features/2018-government-sponsored-cyber-militia-cookbook/
The state-sponsored hate being spread around the world through social media is truly frightening for the future. They seem to focus on bots to do the work, so I have what may be a crazy question: Why cant the social media platforms simply disable bots and not allow their use?

We used botnets 30 years ago to manage chat rooms...lol

EU is correct with what they are doing.
