Dmitrii Donskoi, which went down during 1904-1905 Russo-Japanese war, has 200 tons of gold, says company claiming to have found it.
A South Korean company's claim to have found a sunken Russian warship has triggered a frenzy amid speculation the ship was carrying an enormous amount of gold when it sank 113 years ago.
"Investors should beware because it's uncertain whether the ship is salvageable and whether Shinil would be able to gain ownership of the assets even if it gets permission to raise it,"

(10,798 posts)...the BBC had a story about it and raised doubt there was any gold, would have been much safer and easier to ship the gold by train to Vladivostok then by a decrepit and obsolete Battle Cruiser.

(56,996 posts)I had to finally sell my KZ 1000 about ten years ago. Every once in a while a Goldwing catches my eye, but if I got it I'd have to sell it to finance my divorce. She will not ride and I'm finally ready to admit it isn't as fun as it used to be. I see too many crap drivers here in the hill country.
Just like mine except I had wire spokes, chrome fender and a standard header.

(56,996 posts)it was a truly scary ride when is was misty just short of drizzle on a cold night.
I rode it from Akron to Phoenix one early March precisely between two winter fronts in 50F and man was that cold. The first stop even though I was wearing thermals under my jeans my legs were numb and I stopped the bike and couldn't get either foot off the pegs. It was a stop sign and the bike with me on it fell over, feet still on the pegs.
Sometime maybe we can meet up and celebrate with other DUers the dumping of the Drumph and I'll tell some more about that trip.
