Estimated 5,000 to 7,000 service members to march in Trump's military parade: Source

Source: ABC News

By ELIZABETH MCLAUGHLIN
Jul 20, 2018, 2:08 PM ET

Between 5,000 to 7,000 service members could march in President Donald Trump's military parade, according to a U.S. defense official familiar with parade planning documents.

The figures are according to a presentation briefed to local Department of Defense leadership earlier this month on the progress of the planning, said the official who was not present for that briefing.

. . .

Dozens of DoD personnel are currently supporting the planning of the parade and it is estimated that nearly 3,000 employees will work behind the scenes during the week it's scheduled to take place, the official said of the current plans.

About 50 individuals in the DC area are now supporting the planning of the parade, scheduled for Saturday, November 10. That number is expected to grow to 100 by the Labor Day holiday, and then to about 3,000 the week of the parade, the official said.

Housing that many soldiers etc is no easy task. Sure there are lots of military installations fairly close but I'd be surprised if they have existing inhabitable buildings. That means contractor provided buildings. I'd guess.

What I do know is that these things are a real pain in the ass. I went through a couple change of commands and that means inspection after inspection and a lot of standing around.....and then cleaning up your uniform for more inspections the next day. We "practiced" all week for a Squadron (Cavalry) change and the day before the event they cut the grass on the airfield. Hours of standing at parade rest and attention while the bugs zipped by and got on us but we couldn't move. That was like torture.

More specifically, that the grand experiment is over, and capitalism/corporatism peaked....the 1% of the 1% finally have it all, and the 250 year ponzi scheme/plan...worked great...for them, and now will transistion to an oligarchy. Hopefully those marching are doing so voluntarily and not forced to march. "All enemies foreign and domestic....ALL enemies foreign and domestic." they all swore an oath to their god to the same. Fri Jul 20, 2018, 03:03 PM

Colossal waste of time and money on each individual military member that is being forced (or as we called it, 'volun-told') to participate, and an additional burden on every military unit that has to participate. (The article already mentioned the waste of staff time for support and planning for the months leading up to this fiasco.)

"You have parade duty" was a phrase that NOBODY wanted to hear, at pretty much any time, and especially on a holiday weekend when we would much rather spend the time with our friends and families. Dig out a dress uniform you normally don't wear on duty, have it cleaned, pressed, and possibly tailored if your body has changed at all (and it usually had). Spend a lot of time getting the uniform looking perfect, and remember to give a high shine to the footwear. Buy anything needed to replace any items that were tarnished or worn.

Spend several days practicing instead of performing your normal duty, thus placing additional burden on those lucky bastards that were NOT volun-told that they were going to be in a parade. (Yeah, have to make sure that pretty much EVERYBODY is affected by this thing, right?)

Since he wants to have a lot of mechanical stuff, too (trucks, tracked vehicles, aircraft, and whatever else he can toss into the mix) there will be the additional work to not only make sure they are mechanically ready, but also scrubbed and polished so that they are all prettified for the parade.

This is only for ground troops. Donnie Two Scoops wants a big air display too, something that will start out over New York City (he wants to rub their noses in the fact he's president and can do whatever he wants) and then down the coast to Washington. Bombers, fighters, cargo planes, helicopters, and whatever the hell the V22 Osprey is -- each one burning tons of fuel. I wouldn't be surprised if he orders the aircraft used as Air Force One to lead the gaggle.

The cost is estimated to be between $12 - $14 million.

Just so Trump can have his "It's All About Me!" parade.

The worst thing is, if he gets his way this year he'll want a bigger parade next year.

Sherman was worried: his boys could flat out fight and beat the secessionist at every opportunity. But being almost all Midwest farm boys they could not march for beans. Thought it stupid and would not really try. Sherman’s solution?

He had them ambled the way they had cockily sauntered through the south. There are photos of it and they were not even in line abreast.

Would love to see drumps head explode when he saw that.
