DOMINICAN REPUBLIC (CNN) - Going to the Caribbean visitors expect to see beautiful waves of clear blue water.

However, at Playa Montesinos in the Dominican Republic, beachgoers are greeted by waves of trash.

Shocking video seen here was shared by the NGO Parley for the Oceans, and has already been shared thousands of time on social media.

According to people associated with the organization, it happens every time heavy rains take place.

The way things are going, this may very well be the future for many beaches.

They highlight the trash, many say it happens every time there are heavy rains, and say how horrible it is.

If Congress needs to do something about it, the presumption is that it's wind-blown trash from the US or territories.

But if it's just rains that produce it, it's more likely that this is Dominican trash flushed into their coastal waters and the longshore drift just accumulates all the crap in the cove the beach lies in. In which case, it's not the US Congress that should take action and this is one problem that we can't personally lay stake to in order to blame somebody else.

Note the other post in this thread about another Caribbean island.

In addition to the mounds of plastic everywhere, when you walked outdoors in the morning, you'd first be hit by the humidity, then by the smell of burning plastic.

We should have been set down on Venus, instead.
