Trump privately frustrated over lack of progress with North Korea: report
Source: The Hill
President Trump is reportedly growing frustrated because efforts with North Korea are not progressing as quickly as he would like. The Washington Post reported Saturday that Trump has requested daily status updates on talks with North Korea and is eager for next steps on the end of the country's nuclear program.
But hes been left frustrated as North Korean officials have canceled meetings with U.S. representatives, and failed to stay in communication, according to The Post. North Korea has also reportedly stepped up its fuel production for nuclear missiles, despite committing to denuclearization.
The Post reported based on reports from half-dozen aides in the White House and State Department that Trump is privately fuming about negotiations. Trump has repeatedly touted his summit with North Korean leader earlier this year as a success.
The country also promised to return the remains of U.S. soldiers killed during the Korean War. But North Korean officials told Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during his trip to the country earlier this month that they had no specific plans in place for returning the remains, according to The Post.

(27,813 posts)... is actually too stupid to understand that he's been had. There isn't going to be any "progress".
Kim Jung-Un walked out of their "summit" with everything he wanted - recognition on the world stage, an end to US military exercises, and being seen by all as the man who out-negotiated the "best negotiator ever".
When Trump walked out of their meeting, all he had in his hand was his tiny, flaccid dick.

(3,299 posts)Before the summit when they met with Kim Yong Chol, the Vice Chairman of State Affairs in North Korea, they told him they would consider an announcement ending the Korean War. In fact, Pompeo had already announced publicly that there would be no CVID, without guarantees of North Korean security, CVIG, complete verifiable irreversible guarantee of (North Korean) system security.
Shortly after the summit in Singapore, they again demonstrated that they understood North Korean concerns about security and the notion of reciprocity and trust building by suspending joint military exercises with South Korea.
After that, there was a tsunami of criticism here in the US from the usual interested parties and opposition. So Pompeo and Trump retreated for political cover to the unilateral ultimatum for nuclear disarmament by the North.
When Pompeo got to Pyongyang, he refused to consider North Korean requests oriented toward normalizing diplomatic relations and ending the war. That put everything on hold. It is likely it was known this would happen before Pompeo arrived in Pyongyang.
It's possible that the serviceman's remains repatriation issue is still on track. S.Korean news reports on the 21st suggested that the talks had been successful. The date set for repatriation is July 27, the 65th Anniversary of the Armistice.
