Rubio pushes back on Trump: DOJ didn't do anything wrong with Carter Page surveillance

Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) on Sunday argued that the Department of Justices (DOJ) warrants to monitor former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page were justified.
Rubio, appearing on CNNs State of the Union, said he has a different view than President Trump, who earlier Sunday claimed that newly released DOJ documents prove his campaign was being illegally spied upon.
I dont believe that them looking into Carter Page means they were spying on the campaign. I also dont believe it proves anything about collusion, Rubio said. He was a guy that was on their screen even before the campaign.
"I dont think its part of any broader plot. The only plot here is the plot to interfere in our election by the Russians, he added.

(10,437 posts)as this whole mess continues to wind up, the GOP is being pushed into a ever shrinking corner where the choices are becoming few and bleak. A politician is a politician and almost always places THEIR welfare first over god, country and party. The trump disaster is making it apparent that sooner or later they must choose, defending country or defending corruption. NEITHER CHOICE has a positive outcome for republicans.
Choose country then a significant portion of the republican base will view as an abandonment of trump and will either split off or not vote
a huge victory for all democrats in all future elections.
Choose corruption and trump, then the great majority of the american people (58-60%) will do all they can to vote all republicans out.
a huge victory for all democrats in all future elections.
there really is no third choice as doing nothing defaults to the latter one.

(2,248 posts)Florida is going purple. He often has to throw out moderate statements to appear reasonable. All talk and no action. He is a heartless Republican to his core and will always side with them, no matter what.

(59,566 posts)This threadbare magic carpet of occasional weak-tea "protests" allows some, even here at DU, to ride through the sky to the magic moment when Lindsay Graham "stands up" to the Shitstain White House.
And then he walks it back or ignores the next illegal action, because reelection/reasons/rubles and the magic carpet becomes a pile of lint.
