Christian refugees admitted into US drops by 50 percent under Trump

Source: The Hill

The number of Christian refugees admitted into the U.S. has fallen by more than 50 percent this fiscal year under President Trump, according to an analysis of Department of State data by The Guardian.

The Guardian reports that from October 2016 to June 2017, more than 23,000 Christians were admitted into the U.S. That stands in contrast to the 10,955 Christian refugees that have been admitted into the country in the first nine months of the new fiscal year, which began on Oct. 1, 2017.

Refugee admissions for the 2018 fiscal year were capped at a record low of 45,000 refugees. The news outlet noted that with only three months left of the fiscal year, just 36 percent of that target has been admitted.

The U.S. admitted 16,230 refugees from Oct, 1. 2017, to June 30, 2018.

If this were happening under a Democratic president, the Faux News ALERT would just write itself.

I am not saying I would refuse admittance, but if I was offered asylum elsewhere, I would seriously consider it.

their version of deplorables tell them to go to America. But probably Canada, Australia, and New Zealand would be more welcoming to refugees.

Even if the number of Xians was vastly underrepresented given the source populations. It's one of the things that the "Muslim ban" failed to ban most Muslims and also succeeded in banning many non-Muslims. But it's really a "Muslim ban." Including some of those nasty North Korean Muslims, I guess.

However, "refugees" also includes people from Central America. Reduce the number of Salvadoran refugees and you reduce the number of Xians.

And, since we're talking absolute numbers and not percentages, a halving of the number of refugees would necessarily cet. par. halve the number of Xian refugees. Unless you know what the total numbers, there's a crucial bit of info missing in the clamor.

As the "Sunday School Lady" who has been all over the memes this weekend indicated - "the Bible makes it clear that we should only be concerned about American strangers, or American Christians, or American poor folks and babies." So in her mind, as in the minds of pretty near all the Trump voters and other GOP quislings, it's perfectly fine to discriminate on who we will allow to enter our borders, just as it's fine to only allow people into your house as you choose to.

Oh, yes and after getting those nasty lawbreaking foreigners out of the country, Gawd and Jeesus would expect us as good Christians to severely punish those native born Americans who are breaking laws or being naughty or who Gawd has marked as being displeasing to him and put them in jail to work for us good Christians...

I wish I was being sarcastic. But spouse lost his UO gaming guild over Trump. The majority of them flat out lost their minds for the Gawd Emperor and his intolerant "America First, White Second, Christian Third" vision of the U.S., and no matter how educated they were, how "generous" they were in their community or to their friends, no matter how Christian they purported to be.

10. Those who embrace the compassionate form of Christianity probably don't want to come here.

Despite my personal misgivings with what I believe is the real message of the Bible, I have known many self-identified Christians who were decent, caring people.

Those two adjectives apply less and less to the large numbers of self-identified Trump supporters who insist that his agendas and policies fit in with their version of Christianity. The "Sunday School Lady" whom another poster mentioned believes that Christianity is under attack and liberalism is the force driving them into some oppressed minority.

Those examples of indecently non-caring sorts of people are the reasons that the numbers of Christians are falling. Americans are looking at them, noting all the traditionaly positive, kindly attitudes and behaviors that are encouraged in the Bible and thinking, Even with all these examples and commands that they swear to follow, those hypocrites can't manage to be basically good people. They aren't just flawed people trying to help and stumbling sometimes, they celebrate taking help away from people.

Once people's eyes are opened up to the fact that Christianity can't "make" people be good, they can start reading the Bible to discover how it can easily "make" people be horrible. (Or at least offer them a biblically sanctioned excuse.)
