Burr breaks with Nunes: 'Sound reasons' for judges to approve FISA warrant

Source: CNN

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairman Richard Burr told CNN Tuesday he believed there were "sound reasons" for judges to approve the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant on former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page, in yet another break between the Republican leaders of the House and Senate intelligence committees.

"I don't think I ever expressed that I thought the FISA application came up short," Burr said when asked about House Republican memo alleging FBI and Justice Department abuses of the FISA process. "There (were) sound reasons as to why judges issued the FISA."

Burr's comments once again put him at odds with House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, who spearheaded the memo on FISA abuses.

At this point, we need to take whatever we can get; whatever it takes to insure Traitor Don gets all he has coming to him.

He is still an embarrassment to my state, and I will be greatly relieved when he retires in the near future. Maybe then NC will bring back a solid progressive Democrat to the Senate.

Ideological purity, or getting Trump out?

If it's the latter, I think one should support every anti-Trump utterance, even (or even especially) by previous Trump supporters. I do.

This is a desperate fight. Trump is such a danger to global democracy and human freedom that it seems reasonable to set partisanship aside until he's gone. There will be time enough later to re-erect the political walls.
