"Disappointed': Veterans Group Defends Press After Members Booed Media During Trump Speech

President Donald Trump trashed the “fake news’ again during his speech to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a nonprofit group. At one point Trump told attendees not to “believe the crap you see from these people” before teeing off on CNN and NBC.

Trump’s media-bashing is pretty rote at this point, but the VFW ended up putting out a statement late this afternoon that both defended the media, and condemned its members that booed the press:

Today I was disappointed in the VFW. You invited a draft dodger that has no respect for veterans. I’ve been a member since 1967 but no more.

I resigned my life membership a couple of years ago because of what direction VFW seemed to be taking.

I agree, the press is our friend, but as a veteran and member of VFW I'm disappointed you invited the president to speak. Holding the office doesn't make him worthy of our respect. He's a draft dodger and wants us to go to war.

Because we have a free media, I see what assholes many members of the VFW are. Before that, I thought all VFW members were honorable for their service and loyal to the freedoms in America. I guess it's reality. But if the subject is the VFW needing the media to spread their message, that has been done.

The VFW didn't want me so I joined the American Legion. This post was in a majority Latino part of town. I suggested we do an outreach to expand our presence. I was told to ..... it started with Fuck NO!! It doesn't take much to figure the rest.

I quit. The popular bigot died some years ago.

I also just decided to not renew my Moose membership. A tad too much racism openly aired at the bar. Just mention the kidnapped kids and I get schooled on illegals and how they should not try to cross.

Living in So. Cal. I find most of my friends are other than white.
