Saudi Arabia suspends oil shipments through Red Sea strait after Houthi attack

Source: NBC News

Saudi Arabia said Thursday it was "temporarily halting" all oil shipments through the Red Sea shipping lane of Bab al-Mandeb — one of the most important tanker routes in the world — after an attack on two ships by Yemen's Iran-aligned Houthi militants.

Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said the Houthis attacked two Saudi vessels Wednesday morning, one of which sustained minor damage.

The Saudis are helping the con man set up a pretext for an attack on Iran. This looks more like a voluntary embargo dressed up as a crisis.

Of course, we all know our ever-patriotic president would never stoop to a thing like that. (sarcasm thingy)

They are convincing other countries to respect the nuclear deal and the trade relief attached to it. The last thing they would do at this time is to try and shut down oil shipping lanes. That is not in their interests. This represents today’s version of Iraq’s WMD’s IMO. Don’t be fooled.

I really, really wouldn't mind Iran and Saudi Arabia getting into it. And I can't even say that I care which one wins. It would undoubtedly pull in the rest of the region into a war unfortunately but I think it would have interesting long-term consequences and major shifts in power and I am willing to take that gamble. Have at it boys.

No doubt in my mind that there will be some kind of reason for the US to join in.

(Probably related to Trump gazing into the magic Saudi Arabian ball!)
