Conservative Hard-Liner Rep. Jim Jordan To Run For House Speaker

Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, announced Thursday that he will run for the job of speaker of the House, challenging the current speaker Paul Ryan's hand-picked successor, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif.

Jordan is a member of the ultra-conservative House Freedom Caucus, which filed articles of impeachment Wednesday against Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is overseeing Independent Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential campaign.

Jordan's announcement:
"Should the American people entrust us with the majority again in the 116th Congress, I plan to run for Speaker of the House to bring real change to the House of Representatives. President Trump has taken bold action on behalf of the American people. Congress has not held up its end of the deal, but we can change that. It's time to do what we said."

Jordan is embroiled in a scandal involving his time as a wrestling coach at Ohio State University, in which several members of the team accused him of ignoring complaints of improper sexual conduct by the team doctor.

what Republicans are up to. Jordan's been one of those most outspoken in targeting the FBI's Rod Rosenstein, stalking him with contempt of congress threats.

Republicans think that the Perkins Coie law firm, the one that has represented Hillary Clinton and the DNC, who Republicans allege hired Fusion GPS, which hired Christopher Steele, is behind the oppo research on Jordan.

But the official media line is "deep state", a more Koch-like koolaid many Republicans drink as they try to connect Jordan's brother's auto accident death with Jordan's attacks on Rosenstein.

Or the Hillary-Vince Foster and other deaths as "deep state."

Unless they already have the election rigged up, we will retake the house in November. I guess he could try to unseat ryan before that and preside over the debacle. They are in recess for 5 weeks as of tomorrow. Best case for him, he will be speaker for a couple months.
