City official: 5 dead in Robstown shooting

Source: Corpus Christi Caller-Times

ROBSTOWN — Five people are dead after a series of shootings.

A shooting at a Robstown nursing home Friday evening left three dead, City Secretary Herman Rodriguez said. Two more men were found dead in a home in the 4200 block of West State Highway 44 that was linked to the shooting, he said.

Officers received a call to the Retama Manor nursing home in the 600 block of East Avenue J around 7 p.m. When they arrived, they found two men and a woman dead.

Rodriguez said two men were found dead in the residence of one of the nursing home victims.

It could be some type of elderly financial abuse or possibly a drug smuggling operation of some nature which might explain why the two people were found separate from the other three victims.

The rules for LBN are somewhat specific so I normally just copy and paste without noticing that some additional information could be added for clarification.

I assume all of the posters simply didn't think that not everyone knows every town in their home state. I usually look it up.

4 blocks west and 1 block south of Nursing Home.

The shooter has basically always been about 3 beans of burrito.

The business he owned/ran has always had ties with nefarious "customers" and other issues.

He shot mothers son and grandson at house beside business, drove about 2 miles east to
nursing home where parents reside, shot them and then himself.

Was is something of lucrative business deals or just a man off his meds?
We will possibly never know the why.

The town had one other multiple killing back in the 70's/80's.
A man walked in a local bar and shot several people.
When interviewed, all the other people were "in the bathroom".
Amazingly it was only a 1 stall bathroom for 1 person.

Lots of history here but the bad news is shouted from the roof tops.
99% plus is good.

since marching contest when I was in high school. My former director was the band director in Robstown during the early 70s. Robstown always had a rough reputation and that band director told us a couple of stories.

It was a really big deal in the 50's and 60's because they showed a lot of Spanish language films. I visited them a few times, and I just remember how small the town was compared to Corpus.

This shooting news is so sad.
