John Kelly intends to remain as Trump's chief of staff through 2020 reelection

Source: Washington Post

John F. Kelly plans to remain as White House chief of staff through President Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign, a White House official confirmed Tuesday, quieting speculation that Kelly was nearing the exits because of tensions with the president. Kelly told West Wing staff on Monday that he will stay in his post at Trump’s request through the remainder of the president’s first term.

Kelly on Monday celebrated his first anniversary as chief of staff, which Trump marked on Twitter by posting a photo of the two men smiling in the Oval Office with the caption “Congratulations to General John Kelly.”

The Wall Street Journal first reported Kelly’s plans, and a White House official then confirmed the news to The Washington Post.

Kelly, a retired four-star Marine Corps general, has had a rocky tenure in the West Wing. He was appointed last July to succeed Reince Priebus, Trump’s first chief of staff, after six months as secretary of homeland security.

he would've been gone long ago. He's been shunted aside by trump.

Guess he really wants that double-dip pension—one from the Marines and one from the executive branch.

Trump's fan base, assuming any of them are left after Trump's deceit has been proven, would probably like Kelly as president.

The rest of us wonder what the hell is wrong with him.

of scoundrels. Trump may be Mr. Orange. Kelly is Mr. Pink. They are both part of the same gang running an ongoing heist. Both are just as racist, and bigoted and greedy. One is the unhinged reckless idiot in chef, the other is the one that holds cover for him by using up whatever scraps of respect he garnered throughout his career in the military. He's there to placate some Republican voters that he is 'the sane one' and can tone down Trump.

No, he doesn't tone down Trump, he just finds ways, suggestions to his boss on how to best push through racist policies best. And if it goes south he can face the cameras to make excuses for him.
