Biden launches LGBTQ family acceptance campaign 'As You Are'

Former Vice President Joe Biden is launching a new campaign to promote LGBTQ family acceptance, with the help of Cyndi Lauper and former NFL player Wade Davis.
The Biden Foundation announced Tuesday it was kicking off its new “As You Are” campaign, which aims to raise awareness about the significance of family in accepting LGBTQ young people.
“We’ll use our resources to highlight the harms of family rejection, and to lift up research, best practices, and personal stories to show the importance of family acceptance,” Biden said in a video to announce the launch of the social media campaign.
LGBTQ youth “continue to be among the most at-risk youth populations in America,” according to The Biden Foundation, and are “disproportionately more likely than their non-LGBTQ peers to experience homelessness, suffer from depression, and experience suicidal ideation.”
