Former Trump “fixer” Michael Cohen is now under investigation for tax fraud, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal.

According to the Journal’s sources, “federal authorities are assessing whether Mr. Cohen’s income from his taxi-medallion business was underreported in federal tax returns.” In particular, federal officials are investigating whether Cohen illegally shielded hundreds of thousands of dollars of income from taxation.

The Journal’s sources also say that officials “also are looking into whether any bank employees improperly allowed Mr. Cohen to obtain loans for which he didn’t provide adequate documentation.”

President Donald Trump hinted that Cohen’s taxi-medallion business could get him in trouble when he attacked Cohen for reportedly telling people that he would testify under oath that Trump know beforehand about the infamous 2016 Trump Tower meeting between Trump campaign officials and Russian agents.
