India monsoon floods 'kill more than 300' in Kerala

At least 324 people have been killed in flooding in the southern Indian state of Kerala, local officials say.

Rescuers are battling torrential rains to save residents, with more than 200,000 people left homeless in camps.

The state government said many of those who died were crushed under debris caused by landslides.

"Almost all dams are now opened. Most of our water treatment plants are submerged. Motors are damaged," Mr Vjayan said.

This story is horrific..."223,000 left homeless"....

"water treatment plants submerged".......That means that there is no clean water for hundreds of thousands of people in state of Kerala.. Also, if you hit the link in the Original Post, you will see some pictures of what has happened. (warning: this is indeed awful, and the pictures show disaster) BBC reports on the disaster.
