Jeb Bush to Obama: stop blaming my brother for “your failed economic policies”

Source: Miami Herald

TAMPA -- Former Florida governor Jeb Bush used his prime-time spotlight at the Republican National Convention Thursday to pass a symbolic torch to his party’s nominees, defend his brother, and urge the nation to rededicate its promise of an equal education for all.

But before he began his prepared remarks, he said he had to get something off his chest — the defense of his brother, former President George W. Bush.

“He is a man of integrity, courage and honor and during incredibly challenging times, he kept us safe,’’ he said to loud applause. “So Mr. President [Obama], Mr. President, it is about time to stop blaming your predecessor for your failed economic policies. . . . In the fourth year of your presidency, a real leader would accept responsibility for his actions, and you haven’t done it.”

Bush spent most of his 15-minute speech focused on the need to reform education, an issue he has devoted himself to since retiring as governor in 2007. Working through the Foundation for Excellence in Education, he has pushed for expanding school choice and classroom accountability.

that's not what I remember. he blew off any warnings, including the august PDB report. He got his trifecta. oh, and lets not forget the anthrax attack. he started a war based on lies, giving his war profiteering friends carte blanche to the treasury-also allowing them to sell bad loans (little regulation); giving them tax breaks while we were supposed to be at war. And while all these vile policies were implemented, the plebes were going down (how bad can it be when you let your labor department categorize burger flippers as manufacturing jobs?).

so, it wasn't little boots before the presidential election that basically said "we screwed up ya'll got to bail out wall street and the banks?" Gee, jebby must be preaching to those who have very faulty memories.

I've been getting crushed since 2009. I've been out of work over a year now and have only worked in 18 of the 43 months of this administration. My savings is gone, I'm eating my retirement money and there are no prospects in sight. I'm scared to death that they're going to keep doing to him what they've been doing this whole time. If the private money is being held back on purpose as it has been and the Bagger congress won't let him spend federal money, my industry will continue to be fucked.

On the other hand, the republicans are so dangerous and crazy that voting for them is absolutely out of the question, even if they promise to reopen the money spigot.

I feel like my personal best interests are served by neither candidate winning. Screwed in the short term by the one and in the long term by the other. It's a very frightening time.

I realize that he is talking to his base, however, this Bush crime family is responsible for much of the malaise. Let's hope that reasonableness prevails before things turn ugly. The elites own the messaging and all the corruption that has occurred. I see thru the deception and hold them responsible. A Romey win may be the best thing because it will result in millions of us taking to the streets.

Bush Brother Causes Stir in China With Communist Party Joke

snip

The reason: A photo posted to his verified Weibo account of the younger Bush decked out in a green cap with a red star and a “Serve the People” shoulder bag, flashing a grin as he displays a tin Mao Zedong mug.

“I’m thinking of joining the CCP [Chinese Communist Party]. What do you think of my accessories?” read a message, written in both English and Chinese, accompanying the photo.

First one to past tax cuts mainly for the rich, not paid for during time of war. They are the biggest driver off debt. Although Clinton sign the bill that deregulated the banks, it was a GOP bill. Republicans have a strange nac of a putting stuff in to bills that cause them to cost more. Like requiring Post Office to pay for 75 yrs healthcare within a 10 year window. Prescribe Drug Plan was give away to insurance companies. College loans to banks. No one could fix in two years, what has taken 30 years to accomplish. President Obama has started fixing these things.

And how safe did George W. Bush keep us on September 11, 2001? And what was his order when bin Laden was cornered at Tora Bora? Oh, pull the troops out so they could begin preparations for an invasion of Iraq -- which had absolutely noting to do with 9/11. Keep in mind too that Obama got bin Laden after your brother failed for 7 long years. Oh, by the way, 818,000 jobs were shed in January 2009 -- that is the ball your brother handed off to Barack Obama. That is the reality Jeb. Get over it! Your brother sucked.

remember that time airliners crashed into skyscrapers and killed thousands of people?

Right, your brother would never have allowed THAT to happen. And if it did, he would have stopped at nothing to hunt down the guy most responsible for it. He certainly would never, ever have called off that hunt in order to start a war with a country that had nothing to do with the attack, and thereby bring about the death of even more thousands of Americans. All of which proves that George's economic policies did not cause the Great Recession. So, by that logic, I can understand why invisible Obama should just shut up and leave Clint Eastwood alone.

By the way, his name is GEORGE W. BUSH. Not "your predecessor". Not "your brother". George W. Bush, the 43rd (unelected) president; undeservedly serving two terms for the corporate 1%, who have been the only section of society to get out of the Great Recession scot-free.

You can say his name. Might as well . . . we're paying an eternal price for his malfeasance. That debt is NEVER going to be paid. NEVER. That's all your bro, bro.

I heard, as an excuse, the current President isn't supposed to blame his predecessor.
In like fashion, the predecessor isn't supposed to criticize the current administration.

Why not?

The Republicans will blame the previous administration when they next get office.
They will blame the next administration when they lose office.

Why didn't Obama, his first year in office, tell the country who was to blame for how bad things were?

Obama had nothing to lose by laying the blame where the blame belonged.
The Republicans had already decided not to cooperate anyway.
