Trump set to roll back Obama-era regulation on coal emissions

Source: Guardian

Plan would allow individual states should decide how, or even if, they should stem carbon dioxide emissions from coal plants

The Trump administration is set to unveil a proposed replacement for Obama-era climate change rules that will impose looser, state-based regulations on coal-fired power plants rather than pushing them towards closure.

The new plan is likely to escalate greenhouse gas emissions, compared with its predecessor, at a time when scientists have warned drastic cuts are required to avoid dangerous runaway climate change that would ravage the lives of Americans and people around the world.

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is set to propose that individual states should decide how, or even if, they should stem carbon dioxide emissions from coal plants.

Donald Trump, who has pledged to end what he calls the “war on coal”, is expected to unveil the plan at an event in West Virginia, a major coal-producing state, on Tuesday.

I'm not sure what year this regressive dipshit's diseased mind is stuck in, but it's certainly not 2018.

Whaling for oil again. It makes about as much sense.
.
Trump is undoubtedly the most ignorant president we've ever had, and I'd say he's in the running for the most ignorant world leader in history. He wears his stupidity like a badge of honor. He's proud to be such an ignorant asshole! And his fawning sycophants admire the man because of his ignorance, and his plan to march the United States back into the late 19th and early 20th century.

An inside tip from your Uncle Serge: Buggy whips! The way Trump is headed I think I can corner the market on that hot commodity, and possibly become rich and stupid enough to become a Republican myself! Nah! I'm allergic to stupidity, I'd never pass the physical

it's the NOx and SO2 controls that are making them uneconomical to operate.

EPA head approves proposal reversing Obama-era Clean Power Plan
By Brett Samuels - 08/20/18 07:39 PM EDT

Acting Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler signed off on a proposal Monday to reverse a landmark Obama-era measure that placed restrictions on the coal industry in an effort to curb greenhouse gas emissions, The Wall Street Journal reported.

The news outlet reviewed a copy of the long-expected proposal, which would do away with restrictions on coal plants and leave regulation of the industry up to the states. The Trump administration's plan would also curb mandates requiring coal plants to overhaul technology, and would allow the plants to produce energy with less fuel.

Critics have raised concerns that the Trump administration's rules will significantly weaken efforts to limit greenhouse gas emissions.............................................
