Republican incumbent Cruz effectively promised to stand for the national anthem as polls suggest a tightening race in traditionally deep-red Texas.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) wants you to know that he’s always going to stand for the National Anthem.

That is the subject of a new digital ad released today which incorporates a viral clip of his Democratic opponent Rep. Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) explaining his thoughts on NFL protests against killings of unarmed citizens by police officers.

O’Rourke’s comments, in which he was responding to a question at a town hall from a young man who expressed concern about the kneeling, generated positive feedback by celebrities, supporters and athletes alike.

“Non-violently, peacefully, while the eyes of this country are watching these games, they take a knee to bring our attention and our focus to this problem to ensure that we fix it,” O’Rourke said in part. “I can think of nothing more American than to peacefully stand up, or take a knee, for your rights, anytime, anywhere, or any place.”

And probably taking snippets of the statement to twist it like the narrative they want that players are "protesting the anthem". God, that picture of Cruz in that stupid jersey, this post should come with a graphic warning.

2. Maybe it's just me, but....I would like to see Beto run some ads showing Trump humiliating

Ted's wife....and then Ted eventually endorsing Trump anyway. My problem is how to show Ted's hypocrisy without further humiliating his wife.....which seems to be a bit cruel. But it would show that Cruz's political ambitions are more important6 to him than the welfare of his family.

Cruz will stand up for the National Anthem, but he will not stand up for his wife.

If this is confusing, I am referring to Trump's posting pictures of Cruz's wife and Melania during the pri9mary.....taunting her for her looks.

Beto’s video explains his position thoroughly. He never says HE wouldn’t stand for the anthem, he just understands why some people take a knee.

Ted’s response is just more of the tone-deaf jingoism that got him elected but which is now wearing thin.
